I work in the hospitality business, so I have a lot of empathy for people that have to deal with travellers. I'm usually very forgiving when reviewing hotels or travel experiences. But, this experience could have been a lot better if the staff was better at the AmeriHost Inn in Ionia, MI. I was attending a wedding nearby and this was the closest hotel to the wedding location. I booked my non-smoking room a couple weeks beforehand. When I made my reservation, I asked if it was possible for an early check-in (so I had sufficient time to get ready for the wedding) instead of the 3pm check-in. The employee said I could check in at 2pm. I called the day before my arrival and was told by a different employee I could check in at 2pm. I arrived in Ionia on my check-in day at 1:30. I didn't expect to check in that early, but I stopped by the hotel to see if I could. They told me my room had just been cleaned, so I was good to go.
