It's not a chain, it's not brand new, it's not pretentious, it's neither slick or fancy, but these are qualities I try to avoid in a hotel, so in that sense the Birchwood Inn is, from my standpoint, just right. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and capable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, each one has its own little... More

My friends and I just finished a painting workshop this week. The owners, staff and facilities were great. The staff went out of their way to help us with what ever we required. The rooms are nostalgic and extremely clean. They also have a heated pool. The breakfast had eggs, rolls, bagels, coffee and juice. The location is beautiful surrounded by horse... More

We love traveling to beautiful northern Michigan and have stayed at numerous B&Bs and chain hotels. This rustic and unassuming hotel made out trip so much more enjoyable. Why? The cost was so reasonable that we had more money budgeted for some of the many more opportunities that the area offers! It was fun coming home with homemade mustards, beef... More

We were looking forward to three nights at this Inn. We were disappointed with the mattress (the kind you both roll into the middle and end up holding on to the sides), the pillows seemed as if they were filled with rolled socks. the toilet barely flushed, the tub was dirty, "breakfast" uneatable- with the cheapest coffee and stale bagels.... I've stayed at the Birchwood Inn several times; in both the summer and winter. And I've read the reviews; both positive and negative. So let me sum it up this way. If you're looking for a shiny new resort with all the finest finishes and latest 'up north' decorating fashion, then you will probably be disappointed with the Birchwood Inn.... More

The Birchwood Inn has just what you want in a family-friendly motor lodge -- clean, comfortable rooms; a we-love-pets attitude; lots of knotty pine and board games in the great room; and a restful setting overlooking Lake Michigan and horse pastures. Sure, it's a little dated and could use some freshening here and there, but it's not the place to... More

My husband and I stayed at The Birchwood Inn on October 13-14. Their rates are reasonable and the room was everything we hoped for; super clean, retro style décor, friendly staff, quiet and close to The Tunnel of Trees. It was an amazing getaway and brought us back in time.

The Birchwood Inn Harbor Springs is a dated, but clean establishment. It is probably the best value for the Petoskey area. If you are expecting an updated hotel, this isn't for you. However, this old inn is a classic, with a beautiful "sitting area" reminiscent of an old ski lodge. The inn offered a basic continental breakfast consisting of toast,... More

We loved our stay at the Birchwood Inn. It is a 'golden oldie'.......... we loved that the sliding windows in the room. We loved the decor in the room-- rustic/lodge look. Our room was immaculately clean! Spotless!!! We loved the open windows at both ends of the room that allowed for the fresh air to flow through. The beds were... More
