Long a destination for serious (and loaded) fly fisherman, the NBOC has hosted Henry and Edsel Ford, Rockefeller and John L. Lewis (yes, that John L. Lewis, who apparently met here with Edsel Ford and Walter Chrysler Jr to discuss peacefully unionizing the auto industry, an idea that came to an abrupt halt when daddy got wind of it and... More

One minute you're in the 21st Century and the next you open a door and step into the early 20th century of pre-WWI America. This lodge harbors ghosts of the past that you could comfortably encounter and chat with without the slightest qualms. The rooms, decorations and location put you into a relaxed sense of calm. Now this is primarily... More

I would have to agree with the reviewer "depends what you're looking for" - this place is an absolute gem!! If I wanted TV, telephone, and low cost I would have just gone to a roadside Motel. My son, an avid fly fisherman, absolutely LOVED the entire experience and I personally can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed!!... More

I found the one-star review truly bizarre! This is a moment-out-of-time old fishing and hunting lodge run by nice people with great food and friendly companionship among fly-fishers. To complain about lack of internet etc. just signifies you didn't pick a place that suits your needs -- hey, there are lots of regular motels in Grayling! This place is special... More

This is the second time I have been to Fuller's. What a pleasure each time. It is back to the basics and so enjoyable. No TV, phones, or radios. Nice and peaceful sitting on the river. We were there for a girls knitting weekend. What fun. Judy the hostess is so pleasant and nice. What fun to be served all... More

We just held a knitters' retreat at Fuller's and have never been pampered more. No one appreciates good service and warm hospitality more than a bunch of women, and we got even more with Judy at her wonderful historic inn. She couldn't do enough for us. She works hard to make what she does look easy -- the sign of... More

The most wonderful and relaxing environment. Judy, the host(ess), was very accommodating with all needs and her soothing demeanor just added to the whole relaxing experience. The food was great. This lodge is on my list of one of my most memorable vacations.

My family and I stayed at Fuller's for the first time recently, and it is like returning to the past. We fished where Henry Ford and John D. Rockefeller once fished, although I hope that they were more successful than we were. The staff, especially Colin at the fly shop, was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was OK one... More

I flew into Traverse City and rented a car but the owners will pick you up. The lodge is simple, in a good way. Visit their 5 Star website. There is only one room with a private bath, the others require a stroll down the hall. There are no keys. You are safe here and you know it immediately. After... More

Here on the fabled Au Sable Flyfishing River, (actually near Grayling, but closer to the small town of Lovells, MI) the price for basically History goes way too high. The B and B was once called the Douglas Hotel and guests included automotive moguls like Nash, Ford, and Dodge. Our very small cramped room was overdecorated with outdorsy garage sale... More
