This hotel may not be for everyone. But if you like an historic, old, out of the ordinary accommodation you'll enjoy a stay at this hotel. We discovered that a relatively small number of rooms are currently rented out as hotel rooms. Other rooms have been converted into apartment rentals; however, we didn't see anyone coming and going from these... More

I love older, charming, different and quaint places to stay and hoped this was one of them. WRONG - maybe old and different apply. Otherwise is was dirty, with virtually no amenities. Couldn 't wait to get out in the AM. With the exception of check-in, we never saw any staff. Can't speak to the restaurant - no way I... More

If you are tired of the same old franchise hotels then this is the place for you. The hotel is historic, unique, clean and has a great view of the water. We didn't eat at the restaurant but did have a drink at the cool bar. The owners are exceptionally fun and friendly. It was a great way to end... More

This hotel was old (1864), with updating of the building and some of the rooms still needed. But it had a wonderful view of the lake and was basic, but clean. It's only open for check-in from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., but the staff is friendly. It is an experience I would not want to have missed.

This is a different place and that is what added to it's charm. Yes, it is old and the floors uneven but our room was exceptionally clean and we really enjoyed our stay. We know now to make a reservation well enough in advance or at least arrive when the restaurant is open to find someone at the desk. We... More

Several reviewers have said, "it's not for everyone". I'll add my voice to that and also say, "it WAS for me". I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was quirky and interesting. There was a marvelous view of Lake Michigan from our window, The antique furnishings were enchanting. The staff was so warm and friendly. Yes, some of the building... More

I wasn't sure if I should put this review under hotels or restaurants. I was there for a wedding and it was gorgeous. I loved the setting- the different dining rooms, the bar, also the uneven floors!!! It was like a maze but that was part of the charm. The tables set for the dinner were beautiful and the dinner... Never a guest in the hotel. However, the restaurant needs to improve their service. Too long of a wait and the waitresses are too busy doing other things than checking on their tables. Owner had bad & defensive attitude when complaint made. Reflects poorly on other Escanaba restaurant owners. We're not all like that! It's too bad because the food... More

We recently were part of a wedding held here! Amazing! The owners were so gracious to pitch in & very welcoming! We have had dinner here in the past, which was great! But the the dinner at the wedding was top notch!! The rooms were great! Comfy & full of character! It's truly wonderful to see owners that do it... More

If you like historical places this place is for you! We stayed one night and really enjoyed our selves. You can walk to Lake Michigan and our room over-looked the lake. There is a beach front park and walking paths right across the street. The food at the restaurant was very good. The owners are more than happy to tell... More
