We tried out the new Croquet Cottages on this visit. They are wonderful! Lots of room. The bed is large and comfortable. The towels are fantastic. The bathroom, with chandelier, is huge. The large bubble tub is perfect. You can see the tv while in the tub. Huge, separate shower is great. Fireplace in front of the bed. Nice deck... More

This was our third stay at the English Inn, it's perfect for a weekend getaway as it's only an hour's drive from our home, but it's a world away. This trip we stayed in the Somerset Room, a large room at the front of the house. We try to check-in by 3.30pm, and spend an hour in the pub in... More

Our recent weekend stay was frustrating due to lack of a basic service - water. When we arrived we were unable to wash or brush our teeth because extremely reduced water pressure resulted in extremely limited water flow from faucets. While showering the water flow completely and totally stopped mid-shower. The inn manager said that when the kitchen dish washer... More

I loved this place, We stayed in the honeysuckle cottage and three couples occupied it. We had dinner at the main house and of course breakfast was served at 8:30am the next morning. How wonderful was our stay. Each couple had their own suite. It was beautifully decorated and had a hot tub in the bath. We weren't celebrating anything... More

We stayed here for our anniversary in the Cambridge room in the honeysuckle cottage. It is a beautiful place. We ate there for dinner and it was the best (and most expensive) meal I have ever had. The staff was nice and attentive. Looking forward to going back again.

We stayed at the English Inn for a too short weekend. The Inn is listed as an Historic Site - the former home of an auto baron. There are guest rooms in both the main building and the "cottage." We stayed in the cottage. Bedrooms were a bit snug but there were three "common areas" plus a porch overlooking the... More

We stayed in a room in an outer cottage. The bed was comfy. The spa tub and bathroom were pretty worn, the kitchen in the common area only had one wine glass, starting a fire proved to be difficult due to lack of kindling and dry wood. Dinner at the inn was tasty, but gave me diarrhea. Breakfast was decent.

We stayed at The English Inn to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary and it was very charming and a beautiful place to stay. It's very historical, older, but everything was in good shape. It was March and still cold, but we walked around the grounds and found them very beautiful. The estate is situated on a river, and I imagine... More

Spent a Sunday/Monday escape having dinner, playing cards in the Pub, capped off with a delicious breakfast the next morning. We had a huge ice storm, but we were cozy by the quaint fireplace in the Pub, laughing and enjoying ourselves. Can't say enough good about this charming place. Easy to get to and worth the drive!

Occasionally, when you may least expect it, you come across a spot in the world where time seems to have stood still, where graciousness of spirit and personal attention to detail still thrive, where the hustle and bustle of the modern world are shut and the lingering taste of a good Burgundy on your palate is all that matters.
