This is a well-maintained venue. The staff is polite, and on busy summer weekends, the resort is a very busy place. There are some downsides, however. Drinks are very expensive, and in my experience, "light" in content. Cover charge on July 5 was $20.00 which caused my partner and me to go away. It seems gay clubs really like to... More

Stayed here as two couples in one of the houses on the property. First of all they don't believe in shoveling snow walking from the front desk to the house in the back was very dangerous. On the path the there was so much dog poop you couldn't even walk the dangerous snowy path. Just because you are a gay... More

We live in Chicago and wanted a quick getaway for Valentines weekend. We knew that this area in Michigan is mainly a resort area for Spring, Summer and Fall so it would be slower this time of year. The Dunes resort is close to Saugatuck MI, so for a short drive you can enjoy the shops. During the summer months... More

Myself and my partner stayed at the Dunes Resort 6/13-6/15. Check in was just fine. We had requested a room on the 2nd floor in newer motel overlooking pool but were given a room on the 1st floor. I guess it's first come, first serve. No biggie! We had a King room. The room was somewhat dated but very clean... More

Have stayed at the Dunes Resort on two occasions and I can say that both stays were great. The accommodations are modest but clean and user friendly. The property grounds are well maintained. Staff is friendly, great location- easy access to both Douglas and Saugatuck - food options within walking distance as well as the beach. Pool area is a... More

The Dunes is a nice hotel, with clean rooms and a nice pool area. There is also a restaurant right across the street from the hotel that serves breakfast through dinner which is handy if you don’t feel like driving. The hotel is not too far from the beaches in Douglas which is a gay friendly town.

Thanks for the comments. The Dunes has a $3 cover on Saturdays in the "off" season. In the summer we have a $5 cover on Friday and Saturday nights. On a holiday weekend, which we bring in big name entertainment the cover is a little more. When you where here in September it was over Labor Day weekend. Friday Aug... More

The Dunes Resort in Saugatuck/Douglas is more or less a Gay Bar that turns into a Gay Summer Resort. The biggest most exciting weekends are Labor Day, Memorial Day and the 4th of July. You pay seasonal adjusted rates that are at a premium during the summer months for the motel rooms. The Town of Saugatuck/Douglas more or less shuts... More
