I spent three nights at the Dunes. I stayed in the original motel part of the property, in a large King room. The room was motel like, but clean, comfortable, and attractive. There are a number of options on the property. I was happy with my room. The pool is really nice and very clean. I was traveling alone, but made... More

Upon arrival, the first weekend of August, we were greeted friendly by the front desk. We had stayed here ten years and, there have been improvements. We stayed in Wiley B, a short three minute walk through the woods. This area is slightly off property with three units, ours was the big one in the middle. We barely knew others... More

The Dunes, ....I have come to the Dunes ever since Fall 2001 with my American friends from Chicago except 2 years ago, that was in 2012. We always spend the weekend the Douglass Halloween parade takes place. At the very start we were only the three of us but over the years the group grew larger and more friends came... More

This is a well-maintained venue. The staff is polite, and on busy summer weekends, the resort is a very busy place. There are some downsides, however. Drinks are very expensive, and in my experience, "light" in content. Cover charge on July 5 was $20.00 which caused my partner and me to go away. It seems gay clubs really like to... More

Thanks for the feedback. Hotel guests at the Dunes never pay a cover charge, it's included in the room rent. We also sell 250 yearly memberships that allow customers to avoid cover charge year round. A typical summer weekend night (Friday & Saturday) the cover charge is between $5 and $10. There is never a cover at the pool/pool bar.... More

Stayed here as two couples in one of the houses on the property. First of all they don't believe in shoveling snow walking from the front desk to the house in the back was very dangerous. On the path the there was so much dog poop you couldn't even walk the dangerous snowy path. Just because you are a gay... More

We live in Chicago and wanted a quick getaway for Valentines weekend. We knew that this area in Michigan is mainly a resort area for Spring, Summer and Fall so it would be slower this time of year. The Dunes resort is close to Saugatuck MI, so for a short drive you can enjoy the shops. During the summer months... More

Myself and my partner stayed at the Dunes Resort 6/13-6/15. Check in was just fine. We had requested a room on the 2nd floor in newer motel overlooking pool but were given a room on the 1st floor. I guess it's first come, first serve. No biggie! We had a King room. The room was somewhat dated but very clean... More

Have stayed at the Dunes Resort on two occasions and I can say that both stays were great. The accommodations are modest but clean and user friendly. The property grounds are well maintained. Staff is friendly, great location- easy access to both Douglas and Saugatuck - food options within walking distance as well as the beach. Pool area is a... More

The Dunes is a nice hotel, with clean rooms and a nice pool area. There is also a restaurant right across the street from the hotel that serves breakfast through dinner which is handy if you don’t feel like driving. The hotel is not too far from the beaches in Douglas which is a gay friendly town.
