Stayed at the Atheneum on Saturday night for a wedding, which itself was at the hotel as well. Overall, the hotel was great - the rooms were nice, the located was great and the venue for the wedding was phenomenal. It was very easy to get to Greektown and the casino - you don't have to do too much walking,... More

I stayed there recently with my sisters, daughter and nieces. We all loved it. We loved our rooms and we especially loved the shuttle service. It took us anywhere we wanted to go within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. The staff was wonderful and the restaurants around the area were great. We also liked the Greek Town Casino. We... More

I stayed at the Atheneum for my 50th High School Reunion instead of in a motel closer to all of the reunion events. I valeted my rental car and felt much safer pulling up to the front door of the hotel instead of the darkness around a motel in some unknown area. The doormen and the parking guys were super... the deluxe room was hugeeee, i loved that it had a living room area away from the bed room. the bathroom was huge, and the beds were extremely comfy. nice that there were 2 huge flat screens as well. lots of room. view .. could be better, but this was the last room and luckily we snagged it! fit all... I recently stayed a night at the Atheneum due to a wedding reception at the hotel. I had not heard many positive comments about the hotel but decided to book a night for convenience. The room was clean, modern and up to date. Complete with a living area and a 3 stair step down into the bedroom area, the room... More

Let's face it, inner Detroit is not a tourist-friendly area. It's sad to drive around and see the residential and commercial areas that 50 or more years ago were "the" places to be, but are now largely abandoned or derelict. There are still a few places worth spending some time at - the Renaissance centre-Joe Louis arena area near the... More

We booked a night at the Atheneum for a friend's wedding. Our first impression with the hotel was good. The valet service and bellhop were very attentive and quick to get us into the hotel and to our room. The room was spacious and clean. First impression was good. However, we immediately ran into trouble trying to get room service... More

This is an awful hotel! The only plus is that the rooms are large, but they were last decorated in the 80s and the A/C is not properly set up for the size. The service is horrible and the element this hotel attracts (perhaps it's because the proximity to the casino) is downright scary. After calling 5 times to complain... More

Although we listed our date for staying here as August 2011, we actually have stayed here in June and July as well for a total of 14 nights. We have stayed for a few nights during the week, over weekends, and once for a whole week. We have stayed when the Tigers were playing, when there were wedding receptions there,... More

We stayed a night in Detroit during a road trip and on our way to Chicago. I found this hotel online. It looked a bit better than it was. It was a suite that looked real nice, but the beds weren't real comfortable and the couch wasn't comfortable either. It was in an area called Greektown that had a lot... More
