I think this hotel has spoiled me for all others. I absolutely loved the room set-up, the location, the beautiful lobby, and excellent service. Right in the heart of Greektown. We attended a social at the Sweetwater Tavern which was a short walk and then took their shuttle to the Red Wing game and back. I will definitely be back.

We stayed there in October and it was easy to find, great valet parking ($20 per nite?) very friendly staff, checked us right in. Clean Hotel, good security it seemed, felt very safe indeed. Room was very spacious and well appointed, refrigerator, nice furnishings. You can tell it's an older property but they have really got everything in nice order,... More

made use of the Lions Package which included valet parking and a $40 meal credit. WE could have taken the shuttle ( free ) to the game but chose to make the short walk up Brush street to the stadium Room was great - right across from elevators - so I was afraid that we would hear noise from the... What a gem and I am disappointed that with my frequent trips to Detroit that I did not choose the Atheneum sooner. It's the kind of hotel where you decide what to make of it. If you need a quiet retreat/spa environment, it's great. If you want to let your hair down and let loose, you can do that too.... More

I went to see my daughter act in Motown the Musical in Detroit. One word stands out in my mind-neighborly. Everwhere we went, people were friendly to us.I was especially impressed with my hotel,The Atheneum and its adjoining restaurant, Fishbones(see the separate review). We dined at the food court in the Renaissance Center, strolled on the Riverwalk, went to the Wright... More

Stayed here two nights for my Son's wedding. Staff is top notch and rooms are spacious and attractive. Great location too! Can't say enough about the 8th floor banquet room. It was a great reception top notch. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is there was some mold on the caulking around the bath tub. This... More

Our friends returned with me for a Detroit weekend that started the right way at this wonderfully located hotel. The staff could not do enough for us to make our visit outstanding. One hotel advantage we used was the shuttle. For example, we shuttled to the East Market walk and breakfast then called for a return trip. What a great... More

The Atheneum hotel and suites in Downtown Detroit is a great place to spend a night or two. I usually always stay at this hotel when going to Lions or Tigers games. Only a few blocks from either venue provides you with a safe and easy travel to check out some sporting events. The hotel has big spacious suites and... More

The Atheneum has everything that you need… plus many things that you want (jacuzzi tub, large room for a hotel, comfy bed, in-hotel bar, fine restaurant)… at the best price available in d'town Detroit. Been there twice & shall return again with Barbara (who also wrote a very favorable review of The Atheneum earlier.)

Overall we had a good experience at the Atheneum. I had a large suite which is a fairly narrow but long room. It was nice having a separate sitting and work area away from the TV and bedroom. The bathroom is in between the two spaces. The room was clean and appeared to be well maintained. There is a bar... More
