Sunday night memorial weekend, Lobby bar closed, only one shuttle running, typically there are two. Front desk clerk who doesn't care. A wedding party who is taking over the lobby and interrupting other guests. Over priced and lacking service and customer courtesy!! Very disappointing...will think twice before staying again.

Recently I stayed for the week at The Atheneum in greektown area of Detroit. This hotel was great. Starting with the location as there were numerouos places to eat, drink or gamble within walking distance. The hotel itself has very cool decor and the rooms are fantastic. Each room is like a suite with an entire living room and office... More

This hotel is the total package. The staff could be ambassadors for the city of Detroit. It was like they were your personal guide during your entire stay. Good food in walking distance of the hotel and a casino right across the street for your entertainment. I definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Atheneum for one night, and I wouldn't stay there again. The entrance is deceiving, as it looks quite nice. Once you get inside the lobby, it feels like an office building, and then the rooms, although clean, are dark and just run down looking, and they have these huge pillars that just waste space. Further, the... More

We stayed here for a Tigers game and had the best time. Location was perfect. Lots of bars and restaurants. A huge perk was the courtesy shuttle which we used to the game, Slows BBQ, DIA museum, ect. Our driver was Curtis and we couldn't recommend him more. Very knowledgeable about the city and he's hilarious. We actually consider him... More

Stayed here for a couple of days while on business. Good points: hotel is in a good location, central downtown, close to a reasonable range of restaurants and bars. Staff very helpful and friendly. Bad points: location is incredibly noisy and sound proofing is very poor; drunk patrons shouting at all times of the evening on landings and in lifts;... More

Stayed here recently while having fun in Greektown Detroit on a recommendation of a friend. Great little find of a hotel that I will definitely be back to when I return. Loved the location. Stafff was friendly. Rate was fair for a hotel in the area. No complaints.

This was a great hotel for the money. I read the reviews ahead of time and they were helpful. The room was clean, and arranged in an interesting layout. Staff was friendly. Within walking distance to many things I wanted, such as Greektown bakery. Hotel arranged a complimentary shuttle to a Red Wings game that a several guests were attending.

First of all, the staff is spectacular!! The shuttle was a great addition to our stay since we parked out vehicle at the casino to avoid the $25th valet charge. The room was absolutely beautiful and they even upgraded our suite because they were overbooked. Our room had a jacuzzi tub so we called down to see if we could... More

We stayed for the second time at the Atheneum while doing Red Wings Hockey games. The staff are strikingly friendly and engaged with you from arrival through the front door throughout the stay. They provide a shuttle that will take guests to sites within 10 miles of the hotel. They took us to the Joe Lewis Arena, Hockeytown Cafe, Detroit... More
