I stayed here for one night in order to have access to the Greektown restaurants and casino in Detroit. I wanted a nice hotel but at a good price and this hotel exceeded my expectations. Every staff member that I spoke with was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room itself was much bigger than expected and had a unique layout.... More

Rooms are a little dated but very well appointed and its located in what's likely the safest area around there. You can totally walk around safely due to a large police presence in the immediate area to get lunch or dinner. Great place to stay if you're visiting for auto show, business or to catch a game.

We stayed here on a Sunday night for a concert. The Greektown area was busy with people (who were also around for a Lion's game). The rooms are a two-room suite with a huge bathroom and tub. Free use of refrigerators if you request one. The check-in/check-out staff, bell man, person handling luggage valet were all very nice, friendly and... More

I recently stayed here for a Detroit Lions home game. The location of the hotel is great, and the room sizes were better than expected. The hotel is within easy walking distance to Ford Field, and is also right in the heart of Greek Town giving you access to lots of pubs, restaurants, shops and the casino. I would definitely... I think this hotel has spoiled me for all others. I absolutely loved the room set-up, the location, the beautiful lobby, and excellent service. Right in the heart of Greektown. We attended a social at the Sweetwater Tavern which was a short walk and then took their shuttle to the Red Wing game and back. I will definitely be back.

We stayed there in October and it was easy to find, great valet parking ($20 per nite?) very friendly staff, checked us right in. Clean Hotel, good security it seemed, felt very safe indeed. Room was very spacious and well appointed, refrigerator, nice furnishings. You can tell it's an older property but they have really got everything in nice order,... More

made use of the Lions Package which included valet parking and a $40 meal credit. WE could have taken the shuttle ( free ) to the game but chose to make the short walk up Brush street to the stadium Room was great - right across from elevators - so I was afraid that we would hear noise from the... What a gem and I am disappointed that with my frequent trips to Detroit that I did not choose the Atheneum sooner. It's the kind of hotel where you decide what to make of it. If you need a quiet retreat/spa environment, it's great. If you want to let your hair down and let loose, you can do that too.... More

I went to see my daughter act in Motown the Musical in Detroit. One word stands out in my mind-neighborly. Everwhere we went, people were friendly to us.I was especially impressed with my hotel,The Atheneum and its adjoining restaurant, Fishbones(see the separate review). We dined at the food court in the Renaissance Center, strolled on the Riverwalk, went to the Wright... More

Stayed here two nights for my Son's wedding. Staff is top notch and rooms are spacious and attractive. Great location too! Can't say enough about the 8th floor banquet room. It was a great reception top notch. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is there was some mold on the caulking around the bath tub. This... More
