I am not sure what to say about this place. We stayed in a nicely renovated room. It was clean and updated. But it took FOREVER to get our car situated in valet parking, we were pointed by different staff in a million different directions, and when finally in the room we could totally hear what was going on in... Stayed here for a conference - like most people I guess I was in Detroit for business not pleasure. The hotel itself is very good, right on the waterfront but considering it has hundreds and hundreds if rooms it really let's itself down on service. Breakfast is a joke - not enough seating and staff who just don't want to... More

I am very torn about how to rate this place. I normally rate based on whether I would return, and I'm not even sure how I feel about that. There were so many ups and downs here. I can't decide to start with the good or the bad, so I guess I'll just start in chronological order. First I will... More

This is a beautiful hotel. Currently under construction. Although they have this information on their website and on signs in the lobby, I never saw any notification. I do not go to the website and when you enter the hotel, it is so beautiful, you will most likely never see any sign. I was pretty upset this morning when I... More

I normally skip Marriotts in favor of Westins or Hyatts... Now I remember why. This is a poor showing. The room is right out of the 70s, and the staff (that I dealt with, at least) is less than helpful... I know they save their best rooms for their frequent guests... But as long as I'm stuck in rooms like... More

I stayed here recently for two nights (Thursday night, Saturday night). The first night we arrived very late but were given a newly renovated room on the 60th floor. Elevators were exceptionally fast and we arrived at the room to be pleasantly surprised by a wonderful view of the river and Canada directly across from there. The beds were a... More

I had a quick business trip and stayed at the Marriott as I usually do when visiting Detroit. Besides a terrifc location with fantastic views in all directions, the hotel continues to upgrade its looks and amenities. Volt Lounge is a great lobby bar, and while the food is nothing to write home about, the service and atmosphere is excellent.... More

Stayed five nights for Jazz Fest. Got "renovated" room in quotes because 1) the bathroom is smaller than before; 2) no fan in the bathroom; 3) no chair in the room to sit and look at beautiful view. What's up with the metal bench? Not for sitting. I was told that only the King rooms have the arm chairs, not... More

The hotel has been renovated. New carpeting, great view, comfortable bed. We had river view room. The view was great. Having stayed here a number of times it becomes easier to navigate the Ren Cen building. Check in fine. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were in Detroit for the jazz festival. The hotel's location was perfect. It was... More

This is a Marriott - and it is exactly what you expect from a Marriott (mostly, but read on). The staff is professional, the rooms are great, the beds wonderful, even the towels are better. But we were in town for a wedding and they "lost" my sons car at the valet - and he missed his brothers wedding ceremony... More
