Given the Detroit International Marathon I'd expected a bit of chaos only to be met with none. The location was perfect. I wish I could remember the name of the young lady at the front desk who serviced me. I asked for a nice room with a view (if available) and she came thru wonderfully. The view from my window... We stayed in the hotel from Thursday night until Sunday morning, and the staff were nothing but accommodating and polite! There was one employee in particular that helped us out so much when we were checking out during the rush, and even with our checkout at noon, with his help, all of our stuff was in bagge check-in and in... The only positive thing about this hotel is the great view. They are overpriced compared to the surrounding hotels. Their dine in restaurant is what sent me over to write this review. Not only was the food terrible but my friend found a dead bug in his soda and I found hair in my sandwhich. Please if you value your... More

Nice location,in the Ren Cen (as the locals call it) nice people, and convenient to the people mover. The rooms are tired , but clean. The bar was quite active (loud too) and self parking was quite easy too. Not nearly as upscale as I expected for the price.

Dear Frank, Thank you for your review. I would appreciate any additional details to possibly confirm you are referencing the Courtyard by Marriott. Our hotel is located in the Millender Center directly across the street from the Renaissance Center, but we are attached by a pedestrian walkway over Jefferson Avenue. We are also conveniently located on the People Mover route,... More

This was a very comfortable stay for a long 10-day meeting. There is ample space to move around the room, a decent closet, and large and comfortable bathroom. The breakfast is good, although I usually saved money and bought snacks (yogurt, cheese, granola bars, bananas) at the convenience/liquor store downstairs just outside the hotel. The hotel is easy walking distance... More

Dear Haparev, Thank you for your well-rounded review and details concerning a disappointing laundry experience. I will look in to the circumstances to determine if we have a training opportunity or require revisions to our laundry processes. I apologize for the inconvenience we caused and glad to hear the Marriott Rewards points were appreciated. Sincerely, Jon C – General Manager More

Wow! I haven't been in a downtown hotel room this big in years! Really appreciated the large bathroom with extra-long counter. We stayed in a queen double and had tons of room to spread out. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay again.

Dear Mary, I’m glad you enjoyed the accommodations. We really appreciate reviews mentioning our large guest rooms and extra-long bathroom counters. To your point, the size of our guest rooms allows us to provide two Queen beds versus the standard two Doubles. Regards! Jon C – General Manager More

Pretty catchy, huh? Originally from the area we stay at a variety of places when we are in Detroit and we've always had a good experience at the Courtyard. Right across from the GM Headquarters, Hart Plaza, Riverwalk and a simple hop onto the People Mover makes it a very short trip to Greektown, Comerica Park/Ford Field, etc. Staff was... More

And don’t forget the short drive to the “Motown Museum” in your catchy review. As you noted, we have a great location for downtown walking activity, as well as short taxi trips to the many museums and theaters. We look forward to welcoming you back home again soon! My husband and I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for about two months, so we got quite familiar with how things operate there. The staff are generally very friendly, but management is disorganized and, judging by staff behavior, failing to give clear directions or follow up when there's a problem. Case in point, there's a huge issue with housekeeping. Until... More

Dear Lindsey, I apologize for the disturbances you experienced from our housekeeping department during your long-term stay. I spoke with our supervisor and she explained our mishaps, and stressed both were isolated incidents. Although I am not familiar with your other guest references, our housekeeper did acknowledge she was concerned about missing your requested limited weekly service when she encountered... More

I recently returned from a 4-day stay in Detroit. I was there attending a business conference and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown. The location was pretty good. The people mover had a stop right there, so that was very convenient. The front desk team were polite and very professional. The gym was exceptional!!! However, there were some serious... More

Courtyard is my downtown hotel of choice. We have been using this location for years and I have never been disappointed. I have stayed at nearly every downtown location, and find this one to be cleaner, friendlier and more comfortable than the rest. Great location. Only problem is that on event nights, it fills up early so book well in... More

Thank you for critiquing “another great stay” Janet. We have had many sell-out events this year and your advice to book early is a good suggestion. We have a great group of proud Courtyard associates that will appreciate hearing your “cleaner and friendlier” comments. Let me know if you ever have a problem reserving a room at our hotel. Regards,... More
