I wouldn't stay there again and definitely would not recommend family or friends! Dirty and old! The location is far away from any entertainment or sights and no convenient route to the downtown area. Next time we will spend the extra $10-20 and stay in a nationally recognized hotel.

And as long as it stays like that, we will stay with them. Another excellent, comfortable 2 nights...this time the weekend before Christmas. The room was again very clean, the bed comfortable, and the setting and location perfect. We were just here in September for Art Prize, and this stay might have been even better. This time we chose a... More

This is an older motel the type that has outside entrance with a second story. Needed a place to shower and sleep for 2 nights. . Beds were comfortable and linens looked to be brand new. Our room was very large with table and chairs and a huge bathroom Everything was clean and warm. The décor is older and not... More

Due to a power outage at our house we had to spend one night here. The room was fairly good size, very clean, comfortable beds and nice linens. Had a single cup coffee maker in the room. The person at the registration desk went above and beyond to meet our needs and because we didn't know when power would be... More

Yes we stay here every time we are near Grand Rapids. The rooms are not fancy but very cozy and clean. The best part is the home cooking at the attached cafe: the best country breakfast with sweet waitresses.

We were in GR for Art Prize, and after our usual research we chose to stay at The Swan. It was a great choice. Located on the north side (Comstock Park), we were just off Alpine Avenue, a short drive to Meijers for us to catch the shuttle to downtown, and an excellent spot for getting to the Meijer Gardens,... Pros: Very clean - but not just clean, but clean-smelling. Even though the room was carpeted there were no stains or musty smell. Simple - I walked into the office, requested the cheapest room, handed him my CC and was out the door with a key in less than five minutes. Comfortable - the chairs were comfortable, the bed was... Had a reservation for two nights, showed up at 1:30 in the morning. The front desk clerk made a decision not rent to us because we made a joke about smoking in the room. Not sure how we didn't make the cut to stay at this MOTEL. Horrible service. Stay away!

My Prince Charming and I stayed at the Swan last fall (2013) the night before we progressed up to the road to a car festival. We love to patronize the local places rather than the national chains. The hotel furnishings are simple and perfect for our purposes and what a great price for the room. The Swan restaurant located right... More
