We attended a wedding in Frankfort, MI and decided to stay in the area overnight. Hermann's Hotel is small and quaint. At first look, I was skeptical. The hotel is located in downtown Cadillac over a restaurant. Parking in the back alley and walking our way to the Main Street front made me think we were signing into a youth... More

We stayed one night on the way to Mackinac Island. The room was a good size, could use some updates w/the decor, but it was clean. We arrived late (after midnight) but were able to get the door code from Hermann and he left the key in our door. Very nice of him to accomodate us!

My wife and decided to go up north to Cadillac for a night and found Hermann's on Tripadviser search. There was no obvious way to check in- you have to go in the deli. As stated on other reviews, there are steep stairs from the street but there is access from free parking in back via a catwalk. The room... More

This is a small hotel with only 7 rooms. The room we stayed in was spacious with high ceilings and very clean. It is located right on the Main Street in Cadillac so very near businesses and only a couple blocks from the lake. Staff friendly. The view from our room was the back of hotel so not wonderful but... We were pleasantly surprised by our room and the ease of checking in, somewhat after-hours for the winter time. The room at Hermann's was not a cookie-cutter hotel, but a nice break from a typical hotel chain. The downtown location provided great access to some other activities, including Hermann's own restaurant, on the first floor of the block. I can't... More

This is a downtown throwback experience. You stay above Hermann's Cafe (a legendary restaurant). Because it is part of the restaurant and a complex of other food related business, the 7 rooms upstairs are a side business. This is an old historic building, so no Elevator. The Good: Friendly staff (Chef Hermann is a bit short, but he's from the... More

Enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. Chef Hermann was gracious and welcoming. Price was good compared to other hotels in the area. Clean, large room with 12 ft ceilings, brick wall, etc. Located downtown, close to shops, movie theater, and food. Drawback is access...catwalk in back from parking lot and very high steep staircase in front. Rooms are upstairs and... More

I stayed 2 nights in room 6. I had bunny lamps at the head of my bed! How cute is that? Most importantly, every square inch of the attractive room was immaculately clean. The food downstairs is the very best, I could get very fat living upstairs. The Chef helped me park twice, as the parking in the back alley... More

Very quaint, European style hotel above a wonderful deli. Rooms were huge, very clean, beds comfortable. We arrived late so they called and gave us the code to the back door and left our keys in the door. Never saw a person until we checked out (leave your keys at the deli in the morning!) Brick walls, 12 foot ceilings,... More

I had to go to Traverse City on business. The hotels there are costly and many were full. I searched nearby and found Hermann's European Hotel. Am I ever glad! It is unique instead of walking into the same old American motel/hotel decor. The greeting was friendly as could be, as a matter of fact by, among others, Hermann himself.... More
