The natural environment offered by staying at a lighthouse is, of course, quite stunning, and the view from the top will not disappoint. As for the actual service and amenities, however, they do not stack up to the level of excellence proffered at most B&Bs. Our room, advertised as the best available, clearly had not been dusted in months. There... More

Fantastic views & history brought us to this little gem of a lighthouse @ BIg Bay but unfriendly owners who went out of their way to make us feel uncomfortable will keep us away. Before making our reservations we made sure that the owners knew we would be checking in very late and they agreed, but after getting there the... More

We had a wonderful, memorable visit to this beautiful lighthouse B & B this summer. I had been in the area about 15 years ago and had vowed to come back and stay in the lighthouse one day. It was lovely to finally return, actually spend an evening in the lighthouse and enjoy the off beat charm of the Big... More

We stayed two nights in the lighthouse and found it a great place to stay - the lake so close is, of course, a big plus. Our room was spacious, clean and well kept-and had heated towels. The breakfasts were excellent and we appreciated that coffee, tea and snacks were available all day and evening. The grounds were great for... More

The lighthouse is beautiful, well done and well kept. The host and hostess had lots of stories, history and a list of things to do and sites to see. We biked, hiked and ate two picnic lunches in the screened gazebo - gorgeous. The sunrises and sunsets from the top of the lighthouse were gorgeous. The sitting area and library... More

The lighthouse is outstanding...very cool. The B & B beautifully decorated, warm and cozy, the breakfast fantastic, our room was lovely, the inn keepers not so much! After we made the reservation we received an email confirmation with very strict instructions on what time we need to be there by. The email included the statement that the lighthouse was a... More

What a spectacular hotel! A working lighthouse with 360 degree views of Lake Superior, soothing breezes, and wonderful sunsets. None of the silly, lace-doily covered twee furnishings you see in other B&Bs. This was all warm, polished wood, lighthouse artifacts and seafaring books, and comfortable furniture in spacious, unique rooms. Great breakfast of oatmeal, local berries and honey. They even... Can't believe this place is still in business & can't believe anyone who has stayed there in the high season hasn't mentioned that a couple thousand swooping bats live in the attic. The same charming hosts were there for our stay and accused us of opening a window, allowing a bat to enter our room (which we did not do).... More

While at the lighthouse I noticed it was for sale, I was happy to see that as the current owners have no business working with people. They are the rudest unfriendly people I've ever encountered as owners of a B & B. The previous owner and his wife were such warm and lovely people, they made you feel comfortable and... More
