We had made reservations to spend New Years Eve and Jan 1 with our family by renting condos at the Hawks Eye Golf facility in Bellaire, MI. One of my daughters family was moving to North Carolina on Jan 8 so we wanted to spend our New Years together not knowing when we could get together again as a family. We all lived in the Metro Detroit suburbs.

We arrived and found that Condo #205 that we were given was infested with 80 - 100 black flies. They were all over the condo. Approximately 30 to 40 were still alive and another 40 plus dead throughout the condo. I have photos of all of the dead flies in the door wall tracks, showers, on the carpeting etc.

There was a strong chemical smell in the condo that gave me daughter and wife a headache.

When we called the office they assured us that they did not use any types of chemical in the condo to kill the flies. We learned later that they had used pest fog bombs to try till kill the files earlier in the day. The... more
