Carla's felt like home right away. Price is reasonable. It was clean, well maintained and the view is beatiful. If you need a sterile cookie cutter motel go somewhere else. Carla's is what the northwestern UP is about. The motel is older and has been kept up very well. Pretty and new shower curtain bedding and comfy bed. The deck... More

The place was very weird but we were so tired we tried to overlook that. When we arrived all doors and windows were wide open because it was a nice day. Once the windows closed it started to smell. I have asthma and I woke at 3:00AM unable to breathe. It was cold by then and even with the bathroom... More

Basic...Clean...and a unique place to spend one night. Great view of the bay..interesting rooms...all somewhat different. There were 5 us on on motorcycles and we like to stay at places were we can hang out in the evening and unwind. We are simple folks with simple needs....and Carla's was perfect. Very helpful owner who went out of his way to... More

We stayed only two nights of our three night stay. The room was very small/short ceilings and 'sort of clean'. Numerous dead mosquitos were squished on the walls and ceilings. Well, we figured out why--the screens were quite full of holes. So, we turned on the AC so the windows could be closed and it would drown out road noise.... More

Some buddies and I were on a motorcycle ride through the U.P. of Michigan and wanted to stay at as many road side mom and pop motels as possible. Carla's fit the bill. It's right across the road from the lake and was very reasonable. It's old and a bit beat up but Doug the manager/owner was extremely nice and... More

My wife, daughter and I stayed here when going to pick up my son from a summer program at MTU. Small room, but doable with three and a dog. Paid $52 for the room. Great view of Keewanaw Bay. It is not a beautiful, modern hotel. It is an older roadside motel that is kept clean and neat by its... More

Immediately after opening the door I smelled a overwhelming stale odor. I am tall, the bed was not long and I could peer through a hole in the wall into the bathroom. It didn't matter because there was no door but only a shower curtain to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. Everything appeared clean but I couldn't get over... More

Myself and three other guys were on a bike trip around the UP and stopped at Carla's for dinner. We were not impressed with the service, the salad bar, the entre (perch and whitefish), or the coffee. We'd rated there a year earlier and were throughly impressed, and were lathered up for a return on this year's ride. Boy were... More

Stayed at Carla's over Labor Day weekend. Paid $52, for a small, but very clean room. Older small hotel, with a great view of the Bay. Watched the sunset and sunrise over the water. It was wonderful. Some road noise, but calmed down later in evening. Only 3 miles to convenience store, close to waterfalls, just a great place to... More

Clean, right on bay, comfortable room and nice outside deck/seating with horseshoe pits. Rooms are small but comfy and very clean. A/C units and box fan . Very friendly owners and servers. Cocktails on sight an added bonus
