My husband and I stumbled upon the 1896 house via living social. We spent a lovely weekend here. Our room was clean and well kept. All the staff was helpful and polite. The owner was very visible and friendly the entire weekend, walking around the premises and checking in throughout dinner services. We discovered that the 1896 is actually under... More

I took my gf here for one night for her bday. We stayed in the Barnside suites (202). My only disappointment is that we could only stay one night. The suite was immaculate! Not one spot of dust. They pull out all the luxuries for you such as fireplace, canopy bed, dimmer switches, bathrobes and slippers,Jacuzzi tub with candle, bath... More

We stayed for one weekend night at the end of October in the Barnside Luxury Inn's Empire Suite (206). The large room was spotless and comfortable but decorated with a furniture style (from the early to mid 1800s U.S., I think) that didn't especially appeal to us. Furnishings, however, included a nice king-size canopy bed. A gas fireplace took the... More

My husband and I spend a weekend here. We stayed in the suite 202, and we really enjoyed it. Our room was enormous, and we especially enjoyed the breakfasts made by Dolores! The people at the check in desk were helpful when we asked about hiking trails. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

This is our second time staying at the 1896 House. The first time we stayed in a two queen bed Brookside. It was fine. We had the buffet breakfast. This time we stayed Barnside! We were in Room(suite) 205. Lovely.Large King canopy beds in floral designs. The chandeliers were clean, the beds were comfy and the fireplace was romantic. Everything... More

Just finished a 4 week cross country trip, using only B&B's and Inns. (The only way to travel!) 1896 House, and room 202 was at the top of our favorites list. The innkeepers thought of every possible need a traveler could have. And it was so beautifully decorated as well. The bed was as comfortable as you could ever hope... More

We had a lovely overnight in one of the Barnside Suites. It was spacious, comfortable and remarkably well-priced, especially given summer in the Berkshires. Don't miss the delicious breakfast, either.

A friend and I recently stayed at the 1896 House in one of the Barnside Suites. The room was great and Denise and Sue were very accomodating. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and I have to say that it was one of the best omlettes that I have had in awhile! If your travel plans take you to the Berkshires,... More

My fiancé and I like to snowboard and as I was looking for winter weekend getaway options last year I stumbled upon the livingsocial deal for The 1896 House Barnside Inn. The room boasted luxury accomodations, fireplace, jacuzzi, king canopy bed and candelit breakfast, at an affordable price. I thought it would make for a romantic snowboard getaway and booked... We stayed at the 1896 House for a three day ski trip and to exchange wedding vows in Bennington. The attention to detail at every level was wonderful, and the staff made our wedding getaway very special. Thank you 1896 House!!
