The front-desk clerk was very pleasant, but that didn't make up for the gloomy, sparse room and uncomfortable beds. And the walk to breakfast is fine if you're able and the weather's good, but for elderly or physically handicapped, it's difficult, and in the rain it's a bother.

We have been coming to Williamstown for ten years every year. Love the 1896 House, it continues to thrive under new ownership. The place looks beautiful, the Barnside Suite we had for a week was lovely with everything we needed. The included breakfast by Dolores is spectacular every day, delicious and so attractively presented. WIFI is sometimes iffy, but cell... More

This is really a 1960's motel and it's laid out in a long row of rooms. They tried to "class" it up with a four poster bed, but it's still a 1960's motel. I just went back to their web site and they did a masterful job disguising the real environment. I can only talk about the room we were... More

We reserved two rooms-one suite and one lower priced room across the street. The lower priced room was so mildewy it was uninhabitable. Hotel management agreed and gave a full refund of that room. Appreciated their prompt and honest response to the problem. The suite room was clean and comfortable. No complaints there. Breakfast was included in our room. We... More

Based on reviews we expected fresh, pleasant accommodations, but we were disappointed to find our room shabby and not particularly clean. The price did not reflect the fact that this is a rundown, run of the mill motel and nothing more. It didn't help that I was served a moldy, mushy orange at breakfast. We stayed in the Pondside building.... More

If you have Verizon, you'll be okay. AT&T (and likely other) providers may not get any reception. The free WiFi is on the slow iffy side. Those were our major issues. Noise does transmit through the walls fairly readily, but we only heard the young female trio on one side of our suite. Our suite was very clean, dust didn't... More

This is a lovely B&B with nice large rooms which include a king size bed, comfortable seating in front of a gas fireplace, and other tables and chairs. The dressing room has an extra sink, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, and 2 luggage racks!! We booked 202, Turn of the Century Room, which is an accessible room with no stairs,... More

We just enjoyed our third stay at the 1896 House over the Memorial Day weekend. It has become one of our favorite get away places. The rooms are gorgeous, large, and immaculate. Every comfort is considered and in place so that you can enjoy the accommodations to the utmost. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to make sure that... More

This property is in a lovely setting just outside Williamstown, where Williams College is. It's under new management since the winter. There are two parts to the property--the "luxury" suites and a section of more prosaic looking motel-type rooms. The luxury suites are cute, but not really in the luxury category. The room we had was very dark and the... More

My husband and I have come here twice and stayed in one of the luxury suites. The rooms are so beautiful, comfortable and private. We had breakfast made for us each morning and I have to say, they were spectacular! We also ate at the pub each night and the food was really good. The service was great. My husband... More
