The 1896 House gets a lot of things right, but what they get right is being a good 1958 roadside motel. The Brookside and Pondside motels are standard roadside motels, with rooms that have the standard (comfortable) beds and a bathroom. The rooms are immaculate, but have the same smell as when you visit your great-grandmother. The wooden walls make... More

First off, one thing not pointed in most of the reviews here is that the 1896 is kind of a complex of 3 small old inns and motels. Point being, one reviewer complained about a bad experience, but check the overall reviews. Each inn/motel is quite different. The Barnside features some beautiful suites/apartments with big front decks, situated in the... More

We stayed here a couple of years ago and chose to return for our visit in January. The room was clean and pleasant... like a cabin with paneled walls. One night there weren;t enough people staying to have the breakfast buffet so our breakfast was brought to our room. It was a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast and a... More

We paid about $200 for Living Social deal for the room 2 nights weekend with a bottle of wine you can bring with you to the restaurant to use your $35 voucher for dinner. It also included a box of chocolates. The restaurant was a awesome and loved the little bridge walkway to the restaurant. It was nice how they... More

Stopped here a couple of years ago to take in the sites of Williamstown and was not disappointed. So for a few day winter stay decided to go back. Since it was not the best travel time, there were not too many people there. The usual breakfast buffet was canceled and we got room service instead. Next day there were... More

I would absolutely recommend you avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere. It's is a total rip off with crappy service and bad attitude from the owners. We arrived late at night, the room was freezing. I tried to set the thermometer at higher temperature but the heating system was not working, indeed NO air was flowing through no... More

First timers, father and son Berkshire hunters getaway. Spent 2 days in room 11 Pondside along with group of fellow outdoorsmen who have made the 1896 House their hunting "home away from home" for many years. I must say, I see why they return yearly. The rooms are very well appointed. Beds quite comfortable, and the owners treat you like... More

We just returned from one night at Pondside Motel. Visiting the area for a son's cross country meet. I had booked one night at the Brookside (had the confimation in hand) but upon arrival I was told they were booked so we went to Pondside. I expected a basic motel room, but this felt a bit subpar. One curtain was... More

I have stayed at the 1896 House's Brookside Inn before, and have never been disappointed. It's a very peaceful setting, and inexpensive as well. Sure, there are fancier hotels out there, but the Brookside Inn has the perfect blend of comfort and luxury without feeling overdone, and that's what keeps me going back when I feel the need to get... The time to be in Williamstown is October, and we were. We splurged on this place, and it was well worth it. Very nice suite -- comfortable sitting area, spacious room, nice bathroom. Very pleasant place to return to after a day in the foliage and museums. Nice feature: breakfast cooked to order in a small dining room for the... More
