The birches was magnificent. The house was beautifully maintained, the rooms very clean and homey with great folliage view. The birches has a great pond with boats you can borrow, you can take walks, relax and enjoy the fall just 1 mile out of williamstown city center. The dogs emma and hazel are great. The breakfast was excellent. Dan was... More

My fiancee and I had an amazing stay at The Birches. The propietor, Dan, is so engaging and friendly. And his labs, Hazel Mae and Emma Jean, were great company on our walks around his grounds. There is a nice spring-fed pond, with some nearby trails, and apple and pear trees. It is situated on a hill 5 min outside... More

Just a mile from the center of Williamstown, this wonderful property on 50 acres is beautiful. There is a spring-fed pond, a cider mill, a ton of apple trees and 3 terrific hosts (2 of them have tails). The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast creative and delicious. There is also a plethora of hiking books and... More

Aside from home, the most comfortable, easy-going, and beautiful accommodations we've ever had. Great room, great food, great dogs (they made it even harder to leave), and Dan is the perfect host-always looking to make the stay as low key and restful as you'd want it to be. The other guests were friendly and interesting, making breakfast conversation an added... More

Beautiful quiet setting on a hill in Williamstown. Rustic, unique house surrounded by wild life and landscaping. We were treated to a heavy rainstorm complete with some thunder. Slept very well. Dan was a gracious host who made a fabulous breakfast. Grilled pineapple with yogurt and nuts started the feast. That was followed by an individual puff pastry filled with... More

Our host, Dan, is a landscape designer by profession and a chef by avocation and I can't think of a better combination of skills for a BnB owner. Hazel and Emma, his two friendly dogs, cheerfully accompanied us on a walk around the landscaped grounds and guided us to the rustic swimming hole on the property. Breakfast included a beautifully... The Birches is a lovely house situated on some 50 acres of farmland just outside of Williamstown. Dan, the owner, paid attention to every detail in its construction, furnishings, and décor, and his home is warm and welcoming on every level. Equally satisfying are his delicious and visually appealing breakfasts. The sign above the entrance reads "Relax," and one can... More

The gardens and views here are splendid. Dan -- the innkeeper–– is a gifted landscaper. He's also a good cook and gracious host. He was engaging in conversation, but not intrusive, helpful with hints to take advantage of local amenities, and overall made the weekend comfortable and enjoyable. We left with a smile on our faces.

This was my second stay at this very special inn. The location and setting can't be beat. The inn is lovely with so many unique touches (a tree in the middle of the living room!), and the gardens and grounds are lush and beautiful. Dan is a warm and welcoming host, offering great advice on where to eat and what... More

My family stayed in two of the three rooms at the Birches about a week ago in late October. The experience and ambience were remarkable in that we felt simultaneously as if we were visiting with a dear friend while being treated to accommodations up to par with a five star hotel. We had three gourmet breakfasts in the lovely... More
