I knew, given the price ($99 per night), not to expect much. It was an OK stay, but we would not stay here again. It smelled of mold as you walked in the door. Luckily our room did not smell too bad. We knew we had to share a bathroom and luckily I don't think anyone else was using it,... More

Our stay at High Haven was truly a disappointing experience. We have vacationed at other B+B's in Newport, RI and in Cape May, NJ, and High Haven is nothing more than a poorly maintained house. The room was of adequate size with nice wood floors but there was no soap, toilet paper, and only two towels when we arrived. The... More

WE stayed at the high haven house and it was the dirtiest mold infested place I have ever been/stayed in. Unfortunately, we didn't have the option of leaving since all places were booked on the Vineyard. the pool was filled with dirty green water with trash floating around. There was MOLD on the rugs and condensation dripping from the ceiling.... More

Reading the other reviews during the same time we were there is interesting. It just goes to show that there are lots of different personalities out in this world, and some people you couldn't please if the were hung with a new rope as they say. In other words there are complainer/whiners and then those that just don't waste our... More

Unfortunately this place did not meet our expectations. We arrived to the place to see the pool closed and green. The kid at the front desk said it was damaged in hurricane Irene last year. They shouldn't advertise a pool if they haven't bothered to fix it in a year ! The air conditioner is controlled by only one room... More

We stayed here 17 years ago and it was the perfect b&b. Excellant hosts, and delicious hot breakfast, so we knew we would go back. We have been to the Vinyard on and off the past 17 years. Upon check things were completely different. They didnt take Discover even though the sign said they did and we had to wait... More

The pools broken. Apparently It's been broken since last august when the hurricane hit. Would have been nice to know that they were to cheap to fix it. You can't control the ac because its a "house" according to the kid. That's fine, at least provide us with a fan if the people next door are sleeping. The place is... More

The tv was broken, a tile in the sink area was broken and they put a throw rugg over it to hide the broke tile. One towel had stains on it.They called breakfast three muffins that are left on a table with cereal in a plastic container. Over all it is over priced for what you get. The people however... More

I am nit sure why they have received a couple of bad reviews. I am a hotel person, and I had no problem with staying here. The owner Danny could not have been nicer. We stayed in Oak Bluffs room. Nice towels, very clean, sheets and bed were average. But maybe I am spoiled from Hiltons !! I do have... More

Had the same problem several times while in Martha's: Attitude. At the restaurant, at the bus, even at the library (they refused to give us a glass of water!). Hight Haven House wasn't an exception, and we are happy they did us a favor and impulse us to move. We stood two days of beds not made and bedrooms not... More

Thank you for your opinion and input. You described the whole Island as having a bad attitude, but what you were probably experiencing was the push back from vendors and the companies because you were constantly trying to get things for free or lower rates and in a very un-polite and pushy way. Before we had even rented you a... More
