We stayed at ten bed and breakfasts on our two week tour of the New England states. The Putnam House was, by far, our overall number one choice! This was based on Margaret's friendly, helpful personality, the breakfast she made (hand pressed coffee and baked apples were only part of the deliciousness), the grounds - we were able to walk... We were attending a party in Sutton and looking for a place to stay. We had checked out many hotels and most were requiring two night minimums because of a college graduation in the area. We found The Putnam House in Sutton and called them. They only have two rooms, one of which is a suite with a nice space... More

We spent a night at the Putnam House B&B to attend a wedding in the area. Setting up the reservation was easy via email, the proprietors were super accommodating to our specific needs. The place is an immaculately kept farmhouse from 1736?. We stayed in the carriage house, which is not just a room, but a bedroom, big living room,... More

My wife and I stayed four nights in mid October 2012. We had a delightful experience. The charm of the 1700's farm house was everything we imagined. The breakfasts were far superior to any B&B we've visited previously. Our Welch hosts were absolutely charming - not to mention helpful in every way. We are already looking forward to our next... We recently stayed several days at the Putnam House B&B. Located on a hilltop in scenic Sutton, Massachusetts, the house is a restored 1737 New England farmhouse with attached (huge!) barn which has been painstakingly restored to its former beauty. With the exception of necessary updates such as a modern kitchen (but still with the old floors and barnboard walls)... More

My husband and I arrived at the B&B at 6pm only to be told that they had double booked for that night. The owner was anything but helpful offering no suggestions apart from go to Auburn, a five mile drive away, as "there's a La Quinta there" no directions for us or anything. As it turned out hotels in the... More

On our way from Boston west we stayed at the Putnam House and were very happy with the accommodations in the Carriage House, formerly a real Carriage House converted to a suite. Our rooms included a bedroom with queen size bed and private bath, a dining area, living room with TV and a small kitchen area. We were very comfortable... More

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful B&B. The rooms (we were in the Carriage House, which is really a suite rather than a room) were very spacious and comfortable, with a handy kitchen and great views. Although you have a separate entrance, you still feel part of the house, as you're not in a separate building. Margaret cooked... More

We stayed at Putnam B and B on our way back to Boston after seeing it recommended in the Lonely Planet. It is a lovely little place, a huge suite as opposed to a B and B room. The owners are really friendly and chatty, and great to hear about their experiences in the states as they used to live... More

I traveled with en elderly parent and followed the lonely planet to this B& B as we drove across MASS, and we ended up having a very memorable time here in this 1737 farm house in a raining Nov day. Martin and Margaret were warm and helpful - he is a college professor. We got to know their very loving... More
