Our group stayed here in July 2015. We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds (a gristmill, white chapel, schoolhouse and gardens) as we walked through the extensive grounds in this quiet location. The rooms are simple, but so full of history. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Our sole complaint was a wedding party directly under the guest rooms on the night of... More

The Grist Mill at Longfellow's Wayside Inn is the oldest operating Inn in the country. It originally opened as Howe's Tavern in 1716. The name of the Inn was changed to capitalize on the popularity of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Tales of a Wayside Inn", a book of poems published in 1863. Longfellow visited the Inn in 1862 when it was... More

This was our second visit, we booked one of their room packages that included breakfast and dinner. On arrival, their records were not correct, as there were two of us and only one meal voucher for one person had been prepared. These issues were corrected, but no apology, nor was the welcome what we had experienced on our first visit.... More

This is a must stop for our group every year in May. They provide a wonderful buffet and the atmosphere is second to none. Make sure you spend some time walking around their property and look at the chapel, the school house, and the grist mill. Wonderful place!

I always eat here with family when returning home for a visit but this time I decided to stay at the Inn overnight. What a pleasant experience from beginning to end. I had room number one and it included breakfast. The bed was a canopy bed and very sweetly welcoming and tastefully decorated. Immaculately clean and so enjoyable. You must... More

I attended my niece"s wedding there and stayed the days before and after. It is an idyllic trip to colonial history and alive with wonder. We stayed In the historical room #9 and can't wait to come back in the fall. The staff is so knowledgable and helpful and the food was superb. Like I said we can't wait to... More

Thank you Henry Ford and the Ford Foundation for helping preserve this property! We have stayed here twice now, and will go back before too long. The Inn has most of the modern conveniences expected today, but does a great job preserving its historical nature. A very comfortable stay, especially on a winter's day. Don't miss the bar with its... More

This was always my favorite restaurant because I simply love the prime rib. However, this time I have to say I was disappointed. The cut was very large as always but rather on the fatty side. I was uncomfortable when I had to ask for another knife as the meat just would not cut properly. My friends were also a... More

My husband and I stayed here as a part of our honeymoon because we wanted to stay somewhere unique and historic. We absolutely loved it. The owners really know how to preserve the historical feel and provide solid customer service. We hope to return again soon. :)

We booked a week ahead of our anniversary on Columbus Day weekend. Understandably, we could only get one of the smaller rooms. It was okay, small without room to do much other than sit on the bed, but it worked. The free wifi had a nice signal and had a strong signal and worked well. There was a wedding downstairs... More
