Shari and John are the most lovely hosts ever! We had 6 couples at The Red Maple Inn this past weekend, we took over the entire home, and our hosts could not have been more accommodating. Everything about our weekend at The Red Maple Inn was perfect; from the breakfast choices to the rooms/accommodation. We took advantage of the Fireside... More

We spent two nights here. This is a lovely 19c white New England style home in the pretty town of Spencer. It's a 1/2 mile from the town center (walkable, but the walk back is up a very steep hill). It's a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Worcester, but a good location for seeing the sights of central Massachusetts, the... More

Dear Guests, Thank you for your review, we are very happy you enjoyed your stay at the Inn. You clearly spent some time in writing your review and we appreciate your comments. Two things deserve clarification. As opposed to many other small inns, we do not impose check in times for our guests. Although we prefer to welcome guests personally,... More

Loved the place. Wonderful hosts, great breakfast, clean and charming accomodations. Located close to Old Sturbridge Village. Nice historic town. Easy drive from Boston and anywhere in Massachusetts. Historic, yet modern conveniences.

Prior to our two night stay, we received an email to say that they did not permit cancellations for any reason including death. Not a welcoming message. I understand that there is a local antiques fair at this time, however I would also expect that it would be easy to rebook the room at a busy time. A second email... More

We thank the guest for his comments. We are always disappointed when a guest has a less than wonderful experience at the Inn, even when caused by events beyond our control. A few words of background may be helpful. The Brimfield Antique Fair is held 3 times a year (one week each in May, July, and September) and, according to... More

What a delightful experience! John and Shari are magical. Loved the great breakfasts and the viewing of "Casablanca" which I had never seen before. Being able to see old, classic movies is a real plus. The wine selection is outstanding, and John and Shari really know their wines. John makes a mean Martini too. Love the decor. What a great... This is one of those experiences that earned a 5 star. I really enjoy the small touches of this home from the original style to the decor. When I get the opportunity to find a BNB With the original style from another era that feels real as well, I get excited. From the furniture to the original plank floors and... More

Thank you so very much for this wonderful review. It is always so heart warming when a guest has an appreciation for details and history. We truly look forward to your return and maybe a chat about the fact The Red Maple Inn was already 10 years old when Marie Antoinette was brought to her untimely end. I am so... More

Just returned from a long weekend. Lovely B&B with excellent service. Stayed in the Peach room, nice comfy bed, great bedding, but very small bathroom. Wonderful 1700's home, full of period furnishings and great old wood. A bit of noise out front from being on a small 2 lane busy road, but nothing to keep you up at night. Wonderful,... More

My spouse and I just stayed at this charming B&B during a business trip in Massachusetts. If you want to speak about culture, just being inside this building is a journey through time back to it's conception in circa 1780. The bones of this building are incredible, moving you through time back into the colonial comfort, which I can only... More

Dear "Travel Boy," What a truly wonderful review of The Red Maple Inn! How kind of you to write about the beauty of this lovely 1780 home that is on The National Register of Historic Places in Massachusetts and still playing host to travelers on the former Old Boston Road, now Route 9. It is rumored that General Washington attended... More

Lovely B&B in a small town. The owners were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the cottage: private and adorable. Lovely landscaped yard, perfect for reading and relaxing either alone or with other guests. Will definitely return.

Thank you most kindly for your wonderful review. I must say I too love The Cottage. I designed it to resemble a Nantucket cottage where I spent many years and loved the tiny rose covered cottages by the sea. I love to share that experience with our guests and so happy you appreciated the calm and quiet as well. Our... More

bed was comfortable- brought our own white noise machine (after reading other's reviews). also had window a/c on (which also drowned out street noise) because the room seemed damp and stuffy, not cold (torrential rain showers/old house). having the kitchenette was convenient. arrived around 5:30pm, note on door to welcome us. assume we saw owner at breakfast, but not sure... We thank the writer for staying with us and for sharing her comments in this forum.
