We stayed with Doane and Karen for a three day weekend, with two young boys (4 and 6 years) and their grandmother in tow. It was one of those rained out weekends one can only get in the Berkshires. Tanglewood on the lawn was very much touch and go, not to mention all the other outdoor activities we planned for the kids.... Karen showed us from the start how such details are not meant to get in the way of a good vacation, and she was right! Breakfast was great and so different every day, ask for the "crepes sauvages" if nothing else! The conversation with Doane and Karen at the breakfast table was always interesting and fun and full of interesting factoids, whether about the Tanglewood history (Doane's dad ran the BSO for a long time), nearby Shaker village or life in Uganda many years ago.
