We stayed at the Capricorn house early in the 2013 summer season. While the very small room was clean and the host put out a few very generic breakfast items each day, our experience can most accurately be described as unwelcoming. The inn was full of the host's children and their friends. I believe only one other guest room was... More

I am sorry to hear that you felt unwelcome during your stay at the Capricorn House last June. It is true that there are often children and teenagers that stay at the house with their families, and my children have come to know them over the years. While my children do understand the restrictions they have as to their usage... More

My b/f and I just returned home from our first time on the Vineyard and it will not be the last! This B&B was more than we could have hoped for. Close enough to the hustle and bustle that you could walk downtown to the shops, restaurants, Gingerbread Cottages, nation's oldest Carousel, and of course the little Candy Shop at... More

We stayed Saturday to Monday in room 3 with the deck overlooking Nantucket Sound. Next time we hope to get room 4 next door with the king bed and deck. The room was small (4 is bigger), but the deck was fantastic. My sunrise pictures were amazing! It was nice to sit on the deck with a beverage watching the... More

Reading a few so-so reviews on here, we decided to book anyway vs. one of the big hotels because 1) I remember briefly visiting Capricorn House 17 years ago and thinking it was pretty fab, and 2) because if you're going for the best Vineyard experience while visiting from far away, you might as well have a view of the... Stayed at the Capricorn House with some family members. Accommodations were clean, bed/breakfast style. Beautiful Victorian home across from the beach with brilliant views of the ocean. The managers provided beach towels and chairs for us. The ocean side rooms have spacious decks, with loungers, table and chairs - a very inviting place to relax and enjoy the views. Very... More

We stayed in the room with the king size bed and ocean view. Loved the view. The room was bigger than I expected after reading other reviews. I found we had plenty of room. It is expensive but other b & b's were about the same this time of year. The continental breakfast was great and the owners were friendly.... More

Capricorn is a little gem in lovely Oak Bluffs. Perfectly located for walking, across from the beach, a couple blocks from Ocean Park and the ferry, and a few blocks into town. Shuttle buses take you to neighboring towns of Vineyard Haven and Edgartown. Okay so the rooms and bathrooms are small (get one with a balcony!) but this ain't... More

I stayed one night in this beautiful bed and breakfast on the ocean. My room faced the ocean with a deck. Diana greeted me with open arms. Her smile welcoming. The accommodations reminded me of the family house on the lake. Walking distance to the village of Oak Bluffs. I woke up to watch the boats at 5am go out... More

Location counts for a lot in picking a summertime B&B. The Capricorn House location was ideal for us: directly across from the beach, an easy walk to the downtown area (less than 10 min), very close to the bike path, and steps away from the bus route. The house is far enough removed from the downtown traffic and commotion to... More

I so looked forward to my stay on MV this past late summer here. Like the previous reviewer stated, there seemed to be no life and we felt unwelcome when we came and left. I am not an early riser, but not late either. By the time we got to the kitchen/breakfeast area everything was gone or picked over. They... More
