The Porches Inn has been assembled from a line of row-houses on a mixed residential-business road across the river from the center of town. It exudes a sense of pride about its distinctiveness, which isn't entirely supported by the functional realities of staying there. When I stayed there it was fully booked, and when I arrived about 10 p.m., I... more

A couple of friends and I stayed at the Porches Inn for a weekend girls’ getaway. The staff members really go above and beyond in terms of customer service (at least at the front desk), which seems to be lacking at so many other places these days. They were extremely helpful in recommending places to eat and were very accommodating... more

The sign for MaMoca on the Mass Pike had tantalized me for years. When a business trip sent my husband to Massachusetts , it was the perfect opportunity scratch the itch. First, MaMoca lived up to my expectations -- a wonderful use of an eerily beautiful industrial space to house contemporary art. As for North Adams -- definitely not a... more

I discovered this wonderful spot through this site. I love to ski and I don't live too far (under 2 hours) from Mount Snow or Berkshire East. But for taking my children (and their friends, at times) to ski, the cost has gotten too expensive at the Big Resorts like Mount Snow. And there is still nothing quite so much... more

Porches is a terrific place to stay if you're visiting MASS MoCA. Hot tub, pool and sauna are all excellent, and overall the place is pleasingly quirky. They have spa services (massages, etc.), but the actual spa is 10 minutes drive away. Gramercy Bistro (close by) also highly recommended. more

I was amazed! I never heard of this place until 2 days ago. What a great surprise! We wanted a getaway from NYC that would not be as expensive as some of those we've enjoyed in Phili or Boston. Perfect kind of place for us. Right in the middle of town. But also right in the middle of another Era.... more

My husband and I went up to MASS MOCA contemporary Art Museum for our anniversary. We stayed at Porches a great hotel right in North Adams across the street from MASS MOCA. Porches was renovated from a series of old row houses that were the mill workers houses when North Adams was a booming mill town. The hotel is very... more

This was my second stay at The Porches Inn. MASS MoCA is a favorite destination and this Inn located right across the street makes the trip a fun getaway. The grounds are very nice and well cared for and give a nice first impression upon arrival. Our one bedroom suite was not quite what I expected though based on my... more

It was a decent room, much better than a typical roadside motel. I can say that the bathrooms were very good, and they do have some stylish and/or vintage decor. But the PR this place is getting you would think it's the Four Seasons. No problems with the service, which was also fine, if low key. However, the roadside setting... more

No doubt, Porches is a comfortable place to stay while exploring the North Adams area. My room was great and I enjoyed the decor. The bathroom was lovely! Breakfast was enjoyable, as well. The young people that work at the front desk and throughout the inn, are very nice and helpful, but need mentoring by someone with more hospitality experience.... more

Management response from
Porches1, Eric Nixon - Assistant Innkeeper

Hello! Yes, as you have discovered, Porches is a great place to stay in the North Adams area. The bathrooms in many of our rooms do get a lot of praise with the claw-foot bathtubs and the rain down showers. Thank you for your comments on our service. While our management staff is very hands-on and can be found daily...
