A rather confusing place to stay. When we arrived on a Saturday the house door was wide open and the key in the basket by the door as arranged. There was a man watching the tv who we presumed was another guest. Although he wasn't very communicative. No one to welcome us. We read the guest instruction booklet(seemed to have... More

Sometimes things work too well. Julietta House is a self-catered Guest House and it is my job to make sure every guest knows what to expect when they arrive. I dropped the information ball here. Thanks to this review, I updated the Guest Information both in the house and through our online reservation system. Thankfully this guest was kind enough... More

We had two nights here and enjoyed it very much. The owners are friendly and easy to work with. It's a self-catered house, like in Europe. But that suits us fine as we prefer to eat on our own schedule. You rent the room, but you get the use of the living areas of the house, you could even cook... More

I recently stayed at the Julietta House with my husband and two small children. We had never stayed at a B&B before and were a little nervous as to what to expect. Upon first talking to the owner, I was impressed by the personal attention. She took special care to try to find the best available room to accommodate my... More

How does this accommodation qualify as a "Bed and Breakfast" when they don't offer breakfast?

Julietta House, Casually Elegant Accommodations is a self-catered guesthouse. It's not a hotel. Not really an Inn. Not a B&B. Our house is gracious and welcoming, our rooms are very clean and comfortable. We stopped offering breakfast in 2004. We offer complimentary coffee and tea any time. You may bring in your own food and use the kitchen. You may... More

We visit family in Gloucester frequently, but this time needed a hotel. A friend meeting us there needed one within walking distance of the train station and downtown. Julietta House is perfectly located for both. We were not familiar with the house yet, but went ahead and reserved rooms for a few days. We were very pleasantly surprised by this... More

Julietta House is a wonderful and cozy place to relax, rest and contemplate the beauty of Gloucester, MA , the oldest fishing harbor on the east coast. It is an old charming house outside and inside. Staying there for few days I found everything I needed and more. It makes me to come back sometime soon... Krystof Jakubek photographer Ridgewood,... More

My family [9 adults and 2 children] 'rented' Julietta House for a week for our semi-annual get-together. The rooms were fantastic, the kitchen facilities great, the living areas wonderful for our needs -- all very clean and a pleasure to use. The house is very convenient to Main Street where all kinds of wonderful restaurants and shops are, as well... More

The Julietta House is a typical colonial style house with period rooms and furniture. Inside is good but the exterior is tired and deteriorating. Don't accept the Lowe Library room on the ground floor as it opens into the living room. The bathroom is not private as it opens into the kitchen corridor, so anything can be heard! The owners... We stayed here for one night recently to attend a local music event and chose it due to its location. While we normally prefer hotels, this sweet B&B was a great choice. It was very clean, the service was excellent, the room was comfortable and the parking was easy and free. It's billed as being very quiet but the street... More

Wow, thanks for the compliments. Glad you liked it. Being downtown does deliver a loud night from time to time. You can't predict a spike. I always consider the quiet as being important coming from INSIDE the house. Perhaps I should mull that one over? More

We stayed two nights at Julietta House and really loved this truly amazing place! We found everything to be impeccable, comforting and very cozy. The house itself is stunningly beautiful, and the Captain's Terrace was a charming domicile. We lucked out with the weather, too! Hence, we were able to enjoy Gloucester to the fullest, and we would love to... More
