Great place! Everybody was nice and made us feel at home. Hovey house is a charming place, old, but very comfortable. Six rooms there, each one with a different ambiance. We spent 4 nights there. Breakfasts were never the same. We met Nice people from US, France and even Japan. Will go back perhaps to stay in another room...for the... More

When we arrived in Gloucester ,we did not have any lodging. we found Hovey House online ,it was the only location with any vacancy in town .How lucky we were finding this gem. Jane was very helpful & welcoming .Hovey House is beyond a B&B it is an experience . Every room is so well decorated with the finest details... More

The Hovey House was perfect for my stay as a single traveler - beautiful locale, lovely veranda to relax on, a view to die for! Jan and Connie went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Met some very nice fellow travelers (that's why I love B&Bs), and was extremely satisfied with my room. If you're looking for... More

What a peaceful place to unwind! The house was built in 1845 and has the charm and furniture from that period. We were greeted by the resident gray hound Penny and owner Jane. We sat on the front porch and just stared out over the harbor for hours. Very mesmerizing. The rooms were very clean, cozy will very comfortable mattresses.... More

Confirmed a reservation with Jane at the Hovey House 7/23 for our stay 7/24. While enjoying our day at the beach in Maine on 7/24 we received a phone call (the day of our check in) 3 hrs prior to check in apologizing that they had overbooked and they no longer had a room for us. Doesn't say much for... More

I don't believe you and I ever spoke and you did not stay here. Your husband booked a room at the last minute. When I realized that I didn’t have the room available that I thought I had, I located two other rooms nearby, one at a place that had been your husband’s first choice and another option. I then... Breakfast was delightful! Jane (the owner) made a local specialty for our family of five. It was wonderful to walk downstairs in the morning and experience the smell of breakfast and coffee wafting up to us. The view from the house is spectacular, and the surrounding gardens have been tended and cared for carefully and thoughtfully. My in-laws were very... More

I have stayed at the Hovey House for two consecutive summers and have nothing but accolades to share for potential visitors. First and foremost, for those who appreciate antiques, this house is an antique haven. Jane (the owner) has a gifted eye for beauty, as well as an unparalleled knowledge and understanding for the appreciation of antiques. Every room is... More

This is not the B&B experience one expects. The house is in need of repair and an updated overhaul! To start out, we reserved a particular room but we were moved to a different room when we arrived. The innkeeper offered a minor discount and to move us to our original room on the second night. (We were told there... More

N42°36.675' W70°40.230' Staying in a living monument has its advantages and drawbacks. This B&B, visited for two nights in August 2013, sits on a hill overlooking the bay of Gloucester. Ladies, once George Clooney sailed on his fishing ship from this bay towards his perfect storm. In the room in the tower overlooking the bay you can have your own... More

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES We love old architecture and this place is a step back in time to a golden era. If the name of the game is location, location, location, there are few antique houses with a more beautiful site. We first came for a long weekend last summer when the gardens were in full bloom. We so enjoyed... More
