The most affordable in Gloucester, especially when they give you a beach pass to waive the $15 parking at Good Harbor. It's your basic hotel, and with a lot of the old fixtures of the past. It isn't updated and it may annoy those who are used to chain hotels. In my experiences (4x!) it has always been clean, stocked,... More

it was clean, to many people live here. there was no coffee maker. nor was there any available in the office. the only ice was in the office which was a long walk from our room and closed at 10:00 leaving nobody to call when the residents were still out and being quite noisy at 11:30,

This is one of the friendliest motels around. The people at the front desk are amazing to work with, very polite and caring. And take time to understand what you want during your visit. The rooms have improved alot over the years. I'm happy to say I will be coming back here !!

This was a suggestion from the Chamber of Commerce.. Upon arrival, the owner found it necessary to argue with me about the rate of $99.00 which was given that day from the Captain's Lodge to C of C. She wanted to charge me $119.00..,the room was not even worth $25.00/night!! She commented on the rate of $99.00 and said, that... More

We should have turned around immediately after seeing the place but we were in town for a wedding. And to give you some perspective, my husband and I are not squeamish, we have hiked backcountry, stayed in many a hostel and occasionally booked a seedy hotel to stay near an airport. This place is the worst place we have ever... More

I like the ole style motor lodges from the 30s to the 50s. This is one of those. Simple accommodations provided. Just the basics at a competitive price for all the other hotels in this area. What is fascinating about this place is the height of the ceilings. A captains motor Inn soaring high. Nice place, pleasant people, simple and... More

We were hankering for a last-minute visit to the ocean. Duh, in mid-August the North Shore of Massachusetts is so booked up, but we were desperate. We took a chance for one night, a leap of faith, and got burned at the Captains Lodge Motel in Gloucester..... It's old, raggedy, falling apart. We woke up to a bath sink covered... More

My mom and I booked this online, pics looked okay......not so much in person! The minute we pulled in our jaws dropped. It looked like dirty windowless shacks were lined up next to one another, the windows to the office were crusted with dirt. It looked like a "pay by the hour" hotel, if you know what I mean. We...
