We went in September during Labor Day. This was our second year staying here. The view from the room we had was beautiful. Nice room, horrible bathroom. The new management here is awful. We had money stolen from our room, believe it was the management/maid. We were offered a free night but still very disappointed with them. The place is... More

The good news it's a great beach. The bad news is management needs some help. Service: Desk clerk annoyed when I woke him up at 10:30AM because I locked my key in the room. He tossed keys to a young girl (she was the nicest person I met who was affiliated with the hotel) and told her to figure out... More

My husband and I have spent three vacations at The Shifting Sands. The McCarthys the former owners were friendly and our rooms were clean and in good condition. Our latest visit however was not the same. The rooms were not in good condition and not clean. The new management was not up to par. We will not be back to... More

Oceanfront view is terrific. The room itself was OK but the bathroom really needed work. I realize one pays these rates because of the location but with some sprucing up the place would be far more appealing.

We were looking for a place to stay on the beach for a long weekend on a budget. Having read the reviews here and checked out the website, we booked the Shifting Sands. We had a terrific time! The building is a bit old, but has clean, large rooms. And it is RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Much less $ than... More

We stay at the Shifting Sands every summer for 10 days. We love the location - directly on Nantucket Sound. Best of all we like NOT paying for the extras that we would not use like a swimming pool. There are fewer than 30 rooms. Eight directly face the ocean and six of those have balconies. In these rooms you... More

We spent a weekend here, enjoying the very clean, simple generous sized room with a balcony looking onto the beach. It was not an elegent room but neither was it dowdy; it was basic motel and the rates were reasonable. It is a small property with friendly hosts. Although it is on a strip of motels, it is small enough... More
