This a very good option for those who love nature and quiet places, since this "hotel" that is actually made up of cottages and is located in a ranch/farm with horses and other animals..the Internet in here is really bad but it's definitely a great choice for those in looking for a quiet/relaxing time.

Last month, we stayed for almost a week at the Captain Flanders House, and we are still talking about how relaxed, inviting, and comfortable it was! We felt very free to come and go as if it were our own home. Unlike many bed and breakfasts where there is a bit of pressure to socialize with the innkeepers and other... More

We had an absolutely delightful stay at the Captain Flanders House this summer and hosted our wonderful wedding on its breathtakingly beautiful grounds. The location could not have been more perfect for us. The inn itself is charming, clean, and comfortable, and the staff is very kind and helpful! An unforgettable wedding weekend! Thank you!

The Captain Flanders' House is one of our favorite places to stay on Martha's Vineyard after many years of visiting the island. We like the Stone Cottage for its privacy and space. The current innkeeper Irene is one of the best the inn has had so far and the continental breakfast is very satisfying with plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt,... More

This was the place to stay for years, the best kept secret of Chilmark. A pass to Lucy Vincent Beach ( clothing optional bathing at the far left end) and peaceful setting with minimal expenses. Now, the housing and furnishings are tired, not much attention is paid to upgrades or repairs. Owners have other interests and just let it run... More

No place is perfect so we will write the pros and cons. First the pros. The landscape is beautiful so it totally makes sense that the location can be chosen for weddings. We loved the animals - turkeys, horses, the Canadian geese in the pond, rabbits and deer. Paige was a huge help with suggestions for places around the island... More

We stayed at Captain Flanders' for the last two nights of our honeymoon. Our room was pleasant and clean (if small) and there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The grounds were very nice, but there was a fair amount of goose poop which made it tricky to navigate. We had spent the first... More

I doubt there is a more beautiful and idyllic setting on the entire island that you can enjoy as a guest! These gorgeous and peaceful surroundings put you in a world outside of your daily concerns at home, as does the cozy simplicity of the rooms and the rest of the house (breakfast room, living room). My experience is that... More

This old New England style homestead was exactly what we had hoped for. The Vineyard has always been a weekend getaway spot for my husband and I. This year we decided we would stay in Chilmark and chose the Captain Flanders House after driving by the beautiful meadows and stonewalled fields last fall. We were so pleased with the ambience... Beautiful surroundings it has, but I could get that camping. The rooms don't have locks, the floors have holes (and cockroaches), and the staff/maid/ innkeeper are nowhere to be found. We had to call repeatedly to even get them to grace us with their presence to get passes for the beach. No thanks, I'd rather go elsewhere.
