After staying at the Inn in 2011 and 2012, how did we let 2013 go by without a visit? We sort of made up for it by including 4 of our friends and renting out all 3 rooms this year. My other complaint is that I woke up a little late on my first morning there and had not built... More

Tylerton may not be the right spot for those wedded to their iPhones and laptops (no wifi and cellphone reception very poor) but we couldn't think of a more serene place to catch up on our reading, bird watching etc., The Inn is very comfortable, with well-appointed bathrooms and Linda and Rob are terrific hosts. The breakfasts are scrumptious -... More

The Inn of Silent Music is a rare gem. The hosts are wonderful meeting your every need. If you wish to have a low-key vacation, go there. We ordered the suppers at an additional expense, and were extremely pleased at the quality and variety. We were served on the enclosed porch, viewing the sunset each night. This is a very... More

The inn cannot be easily compared to other places. It is a bed and breakfast, and the breakfasts are particularly lavish (Linda, one of the owners, worked as a private chef), but you have to come here knowing something about the place. The last inhabited island on the Maryland side of the Chesapeake, Smith Island is still a working waterman's... More

My wife and I stayed here just before the season started. They were wonderful hosts, the food was delicious and we had many fun adventures around Smith Island. If you have a small shallow boat, you can tie up at their dock.

The Inn is a wonderful B&B for relaxation or a romantic interlude. We stayed in the Drum Point room which was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The owners were hospitable and the meal we had there was wonderful, quite gourmet and well worth the price. There were no restaurants open on the island when we were there, and it was... More

This will be at least an annual pilgrimage for us based on our first trip here. What first called us to stay was the kayaking possibilities. It truly is a paddler's paradise as others have mentioned here. What could be better than walking out the front door, traveling about 20 feet, and putting in for some of the most glorious... More

The food was outstanding, the hosts were charming, and my room was lovely, however, this is a very small inn and the quarters were particularly tight with a full house, more so because the weather became poor and we were confined inside one day. I would recommend it for highly social people who do not mind close proximity to strangers.... More

The kayaking is what appealed to us when we booked a long weekend in 2011. We arrived on the evening ferry after grabbing some food in Crisfield. Boy, did we regret that. We had to watch others enjoy one of Linda's meals our first night. But we had two delicious breakfasts (pace yourself!) and two dinners awaiting us. With kayaking... More

This Inn resides in Tylerton, a tiny, isolated village on Maryland's only inhabited offshore island: Smith Island. The island is primarily populated by descendants of it's original settlers who have maintained their generational livelihoods of fishing and selling their catch to the mainland. Rob and Linda, who have owned the inn for six years, are well respected by the islanders... More
