Poorly maintained is the perfect description for the Robert Morris Inn. It is dark and stale smelling, dirty with visible dust on the floors in the public areas, with peeling wallpaper and drawer liners in the rooms. The furniture looks like leftovers from someone's attic. Tea and pastries set out in the afternoon attracted flies from other locations in the... More

The Inn is quaint and quiet and nicely located directly in front of the ferry. They do a nice job of stocking water and coffee in the hall outside of the rooms. The rooms are clean. The downside was that the mattress appears to as old as the inn. We didn't sleep the first night and slept only a little... More

One word: perfect. The staff, surrounding grounds, food...not to mention the scones and tea were out of this world. We plan on going back. Nothing like it. I wish we had more time to stay but one night felt like a true getaway.

My wife took me to the charming little town of Oxford for a relaxing birthday present. I made the arrangements and the choice of the Robert Morris Inn proved to be the right one. This historic inn oozes the charm one expects from the B&B experience. The pleasant staff and great food were the ideal pairing with wandering the quiet neighborhoods,... More

I was; however, taken aback by the rather abrupt greeting and initial service we received upon checking in. Fortunately, Jamie, the bartender on duty, was extremely warm, friendly, and engaged in great conversation and the additional wait staff were equally pleasant as we dined at the bar. We knew ahead of time to expect a small room, so we weren't... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the inn. It was absolutely charming and the innkeepers and staff were wonderful. In fact, all of the personnel was exceptional, including the wait staff and bartender. The food there is excellent. A wonderful breakfast was included with the price of our room. My husband had the eggs benedict and raved... More

My husband I really enjoyed the quiet little town of Oxford and our stay at The Robert Morris Inn was delightful. Only little inconvenience was our second floor room was a little warm with only one small in window air unit. I highly recommend this for a quiet get away!

My husband and I have traveled--a lot. We've done more road trips across the US than I can count, and we're big into the two-day getaway. We do our homework online these days (thank Heavens for the internet), and we're seldom disappointed. So when Ken started to talk about The Robert Morris Inn in Oxford, Maryland, and showed me some... More

Dear FrappeFrog Thank you for considering staying at our historic Inn and we were dismayed about your broken porch window. We understood you were not happy and did not charge. We always ask customers to advise us if they are likely to check-in late, in order that we can best service their needs. We are a very small Inn and... More

Not at all what we expected. The room was awful. Wallpaper was buckling, carpet & furniture were stained, bathroom and bedroom were so small you could barely move. Checked in and checked out within 15 minutes. No way we were going to stay in a room so run down. Management was understanding and did not charge us, thank goodness. Two... More

Dear FrappeFrog We were very sad and disapointed you did not like your accommodations and we do respect that not everyone loves the historic and vintage nature of our unique and iconic building. The building is indeed over 300 years old and your room little changed from its origins - ancient oak timbers, uneven floors and hand plastered walls. It... More

Stayed the night of June 13th. Had a very good dinner and breakfast at the inn. The room we had on the third floor was quaint at best. Window air conditioner was noisy. The town of Oxford is charming. The staff at the hotel could not be more helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming. Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service. ... more   less
