My husband and I stayed here on one of the tent sites. When we checked in, we were informed that the campground was nearly full, but we had no issues with noise. The location is great - the dense wooded area gave our site a very private feel while still being close to the office (and the bathrooms!). Driving in... More

Thanks for the feed-back. We have wood delivered once a week from a local saw mill. . It is mostly Oak, and a few pieces of Poplar for starting. Oak is very dense, and not the best starter wood, but burns a long time once you get it going. Poplar is light weight and good for starting. A little dampness... More

12 of us stayed in the Falcon last weekend and had a great experience at the Maple Tree Campground. The cabin was spacious and we probably could have fit a couple of more people inside! The camp site had its own fire pit, grill and picnic table and we felt secluded enough from the other sites. The bathrooms and showers... More

We were looking for a campground for a recent father-son overnight trip in late July. My middle school age son isn't really into the "camping" thing. We have camped out before, usually in Spring or Fall, but always in more rustic camping locations (read very few amenities, no running water, port-a-potties that may have been abandoned in place and you... Thank you for taking the time to write kind words. So glad you enjoyed star gazing. We do have places to charge cell phones and blow up air mattresses in the office, and wifi. Maybe we'll see you in the winter, louise More

We rented the Bonsai cottage for three nights. Our cottage was larger than I expected and very clean. mattress were covered with plastic case, you bring your own sheets or sleeping bags. The heat while we stayed was in the upper 90's so we did not use the wood stove. All the windows have screens and the door to the... More

Love this hidden treasure... go back in time to a relaxing memory of summer days and nights that you spent in a tree house that your Dad built in the backyard tree! Mountain top wonder... go and enjoy

I'm not sure I'd call these treehouses; they're really more like cabins on stilts. However, don't let that dissuade you from coming here to do some great car camping! The Maple Tree Campground is close enough for day trips to Harper's Ferry, Frederick, MD, Antietam Battlegrounds, and Charles Town Race Track. The "treehouses" make the perfect spot for car camping,... More

Hi, thanks for encouraging words. The pathway to the restroom is quite removed from the Woodpecker site, and people should not walk through your site. Normally it is common sense for people understand this, as the paths are well marked, but sometimes kids don't think about these things. Under those circumstances, it is appropriate to ask people to please not... More

I booked a weekend trip with nine friends the weekend of June 13-15 and we had a great time! We booked a few months in advance and stayed in the Robin treehouse. I spoke to the staff beforehand and they said that it may be a squeeze for 10 people, but it was a spacious cabin and we were able... More

First, The staff is amazing. They were super friendly and very helpful. We stayed in a cottage. It was more than enough room for our family of 4. I wasn't crazy about the fact that the doors do not lock. I understand that locks on the door for the Tree houses would be pointless but I was shocked to find... More

Hi, Thanks for positive words and feedback. Traditionally when people camp, locking a tent is a non-issue, and, everything here is camping. In 42 years, we have never had a problem with theft. I think having latches on the cottages is a good idea, so, it is on my to-do list now. We suggest you keep valuables locked in your... More

I've lived in the general area for years and have no idea why this place was undiscovered by us until now! It's wonderful!! We stayed here and had a lovely time. The ladies in the office were friendly and helpful, the cabin was cute, clean, comfortable, and snug; the bathrooms were warm and well maintained. We used sleeping bags on... More

This weekend we celebrated my son's 13th birthday at Maple Tree campground. My family and dog stayed on Friday night, and I returned with my son and 3 friends to stay Saturday night. We had a great experience in the Bonsai cabin. I have read most of the reviews, so I will preface by saying that we are avid campers,... More
