We have spent the weekend at other B & B's in the area but never right in town. We loved having a convenient place to park and then walking everywhere around Chestertown. We never moved the car all weekend. The Tavern was not full and we received an upgrade upon our arrival without even asking--nice touch! One of us had... More

The White Swan Tavern is located in the middle of the historic district of Chestertown, Maryland, a town chock full of gorgeous Colonial homes (as well as lovely Victorians and other styles) and charming shops. The White Swan is simply irresistible to anyone who loves history and historic buildings. There's no mistaking this is a colonial-era building - the exterior,... More

We spent a weekend at the White Swan....the staff, our room, afternoon tea...everything was great! They had afternoon tea from 3-5, hosted by a staff member who also teaches at Washington College; he was a delight. We enjoyed the display of artifacts found when the old tavern was restored. We enjoyed walking around the old colonial town of Chestertown, and... More

The White Swan is a historic building used prior to 1733 as a tannery and then as a tavern beginning in 1793. Beautifully restored, the rooms are large and comfortable. Located on High St. in the middle of the historic district of Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of MD, this is the perfect place for a quiet week-end. We loved... More

My wife and I have stayed at the White Swan Tavern several times over the past fifteen years, and always loved being there. The inn is completely unique in our experience; being small-scale, intimate, magnificently restored and filled with items consistent with eighteenth-century colonial American design. The two front rooms available for all guests to use on the ground floor... More

Charming historical inn. Very friendly, helpful staff have all been there many years. We had several lively conversations with innkeeper Wayne. We came for the Downrigging (tall ships) and Sat. the weather was terrible and Wayne lit all the fireplaces and some of the candles Sat. night. There is a small television downstairs, which was great for checking on the... More

We have stayed here on several occasions over the span of 10 years, the most recent being this month. It hasn't changed a bit! The rooms are generally spacious and authentically decorated. Old wood floors add to the charm and to the creakiness. Breakfast is set out on a tray at the time you designate and consists of your beverages... More

Our stay at the White Swan was nothing short of memorable. The entire experience was authentic and very romantic. Our room was beautiful and inviting; it was spacious, yet provided an atmosphere of intimacy and comfort. The rich history of the tavern was only enhanced by the incredibly knowledgeable and approachable inn-keeper. The staff was genuinely friendly and accommodating, which... More

Spent a night here as part of a girl’s getaway weekend, and it was perfect. Neither of us had ever been to Chestertown and didn’t know quite what to expect, so we were delighted to find ourselves in an incredibly historic and charming town and a beautifully restored inn right in the heart of it! We arrived just in time... More

The White Swan Tavern is the premiere place to stay in Chestertown. The friendly and knowledgeable innkeeper and the wonderful colonial feel make this a unique experience to be remembered!!!!!
