This is an older, less expensive hotel in the Bethesda area. On the positive: it is less expensive than other hotels in the area, they have a free shuttle to NIH, free breakfast. On the negative: the hotel needs to be updated, everything looks old; I had to struggle with the hairdryer to get it to work; my room was... More

First of all, the rooms that are shown online at this hotel's website look MUCH larger than they actually are. There was barely any room to set my luggage down in the cramped room. Not to mention that the bathroom was way too small to get ready in. Our room was in the wing of the hotel with NO ELEVATOR,... More

I stayed at the American Inn for a business conference at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and I liked my stay. The place is clean, comfortable, practical, not too fancy and has just what you need. I was too jet lagged to watch TV, but I liked their self service hot breakfast, no waiters but has the essentials. Free... More

My family and I stayed here for a weekend visit to Chevy chase to see family for the holidays.. we booked the room because it was cheap and convenient, and that's exactly what we got. The room was small and worn, and the parking is non existent, but everything was clean and the people were very friendly, even late into... More

We chose this place because of their NIH rate. Everyone that works front desk is extremely pleasant. As far as the hotel, it's fine. They are trying to paint and renovate slowly. The Queen rooms are very squished. Breakfast is just downright horrible. They do have a business center and free WiFi in the rooms. They have a nice enough... More

The people here are really nice but the place itself has gone down hill. The wall paper is saggy,it has chenille bedspreads, curtains hanging loosely at the ends. I am not comfortable here, they need to put some money in the place and spruce it up.

My reservation was made based on the location which was perfect for a weekend event I was attending. The place sucked. When I arrived late in the night, the very small parking lot was completely full. I was told by the person at the front desk that I needed to park across the street on a lot behind another establishment.... More

This hotel sucked. When we arrived to our room it felt like a freezer. The heat did not work. When we called the front desk to complain the best they could do was give us an extra blanket. They said someone would be in the following day to turn the heat on for the entire facility. Every other day that... More
