We had a very nice stay at the Elm's when travelling recently around New England with our 3 young children. The house is big and full of charm and character. Matt, the innkeeper very kindly offered us 2 rooms (for the price of 1) so that we could spread out a little more. That made all the difference to a... more

What a wonderful property; a beautiful setting; and, most gracious and friendly hosts/Innkeepers. After spending 4 nights in the historic, yet crowded throngs of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, our 2-night stay at The Elms in Westbrook granted us the perfect, quiet repose we both needed. Our room was quite large, and fully appointed with the comforts one would expect of... more

I took a drive up to Maine Coast, I'm from Boston, Ma. I did some shopping in Old towne Portland and wanted to stay the night. While having lunch. I asked about B&B in the area. The Elms came highly recomended. I met the Innkeeper Matt. What a nice guy, he showed me to my room. It was a nicely... more

I stayed the night at The Elms for the day of Thanksgiving, I was traveling, and while I have not celebrated Thanksgiving before, The Innkeepers who stay on premise invited me into their family of friends. I had not unpacked my bags before I was sitting down to a feast cooked on premise. The stories and laughter flowed as freely... more

Oh what a night! After a busy day in meetings it was a real treat to return to The Elms, unload our bags and leave our troubles behind while soaking in a hot tub overlooking a gorgeous river. Quite frankly having read previous reviews we were apprehensive. However, 'Ms Expat' should stay at the Hilton if she wants conformity and... more

What a mistake to book this place! First, the location is just across a noisy and busy street from an also noisy paper mill. At least in April it's cold outside and we could keep the windows closed. Secondly, the breakfast selection was a disgrace to every B & BI've stayed in: one melon slice, yogurt cup, juice, muffin or... more

I recently had a guest coming in from out of town and was in the process of moving. We had the opportunity to spend her stay as guests of the Elms Bed & Breakfast. We had 6 glorious days as spoiled guests of InnKeepers Scott & Matt!!! They attended to our every need. The room was spacious, warm, well appointed... more

This place purports to run as a B&B but when you arrive, you have to ring to get a code to get inside as there is nobody home. The room I was allocated was on the third floor with no lift and had a shared bathroom. There was no TV and no air conditioning in the room. The room was... more

Stayed here after a tennis districts match. While the building itself is most lovely w/ gorgeous grounds, the hum and lights from the paper mill across the street heavily detracted from the ambience. When we walked into the foyer, the owner (?) was on the phone. He never once made any effort to greet me and honestly, I'm not sure... more

Heard these guys bought this gem of an inn, about three years ago. Finally made it there. Right in the center of "outside Portland", it's on a river, it's part of milltown history that most visitors to Maine never get a chance to see and learn about. The Elms was part of it and maintains the service and comfort of... more
