If you like rustic this sure is it. VERY small rooms. Just enough room to turn around in. Old fashioned, dusty, and cobwebs. Cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I will pay a little more and stay somewhere nicer. more

We stayed here for two nights in the middle of August. We enjoyed our stay a lot but this place is not for everyone. Three of us took three of the cabins. This was nice for us as it was a little more privacy than being in the B&B or the motel rooms but at the same time, the cabins... more

Not only did the Open Hearth have an awesome location, about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but the four of us who stayed there greatly appreciated the owners' wonderful hospitality. We stayed in Cottage 1, which was very cozy, clean, and comfortable. When we asked the owners what time they served the free continental breakfast, we... more

I travel a lot for work at high end hotels so for this trip I was looking for something close to Bar Harbor, reasonably priced and a bit rustic. I got exactly what I wanted. The Open Hearth was very quaint. The employees and owners extremely friendly. And we were about twenty minutes away from everything we wanted to do... more

We stayed for a week here and while the owners are very nice and accommodating the rooms are way too overpriced for the condition they are in. The lodge rooms are not comfortable at all and there are mildew stains on the floor in the bathrooms as well as stains on the ceilings. The furniture is old and dated as... more

This reveiw is a complete surprise to us, as these gurests never mentioned any concerns to us during their entire stay. The stains pictured on the bathroom floor are simply stains from a cleaning compound which contained bleach. There is no mold or mildew in our rooms; in fact, we pride ourselves on the cleanliness of all our accomodations. These...

The Inn offers B&B roooms, cottages, and motel-type rooms. We stayed in one of their cottages. The cottage we were in had enough room for two people, it's definitely smaller than your average motel room. They offered muffins and coffee to those who stayed in the cottages while those who stay in the B&B get the full breakfast treatment. The... more

Stayed here the last weekend in May, 2009 for 2 nights. We had a Lodge room, D, with 2 double beds & a futon. Chuck and Sue Starr were great and very helpful with what to see and where to eat. The room is above an apartment. It was large and comfortable, recently rennovated. There was a small refrigerator, a... more

We have stayed at the Open Hearth Inn twice now. Last July and this past Memorial weekend. Chuck and Sue are two of the nicest people we have ever met. Staying there is like staying at a friend's house. When we stayed a year ago we had the larger cottage number 8 and our friend had number 9. Both cottages... more

Finding a gem like the Starr's have created is something to write about. Their friendly and helpful attention to guests and their needs was like having your very own concierge in a luxury hotel. The breakfast was amazing and served with style and panache. We were so happy with our stay we booked the same week next summer. more

inside of the cottage was cute and updated. However, it is SMALL!!! No room to relax at all. Cottages are all right on top of each other. Exterior door and windows need to be repainted. Starting to look run down from the outside. RIGHT on the main road and lots of traffic noise. Old, old wall heater... so there is... more
