No Frills little cabin in a great location. Owners are friendly. I would stay again for sure!!!! They have small little cabins that are perfect for a good clean nights sleep for a couple. A hidden gem especially for the price

The Open Hearth knows exacty what it is, and you should too. Get real, people! We stayed in one of the small cottages, which was fine for three nights. Yes it's old fashioned, olde worlde wood paneling and country fabrics, but is quite charming with it. But it's also very well equipped and above all clean. The Internet wifi coverage... More

Hotel in a good location, but old, rough, and ugly design suite. The rooms where spacious, but need renovation compare to other places in the area. One more problem was the only spot with internet access was outside in the parking lot across from the office. However, the owners were very friendly and willing to help out. If you want to... More

One of the great attractions of the Maine mid-coast is the lack of chain motels and restaurants, so you get to support hard-working independents like the owners of the Open Hearth. We were in one of the smaller cabins (#9), which, as other reviews stated, still packed in so many conveniences around a comfortable bed (fridge, microwave, hair dryer, glider... More

We stayed at the Open Hearth Inn for one Thurs night in Sept. How they packed everything you could want in a motel room into one tiny cottage was amazing inc., iron, ironing board, coat rack dresser, sofa, coffee, plenty of end tables, ample towels, extra blankets, plenty of TP, cute fake fireplace for heater, and picnic tables. The water... More

We stayed here for 2 days the last week of August. Check in was questionable as they had not checked the online bookings and our lodge room could have been given to a walk in. We were processed and showed our lodge room which was up a flight of stairs. The furniture was old but still in decent condition. We... More

It was cozy, and convenient, but the reek from the air freshener was intolerable. They said it was to cover up cooking odors, but even after removing the air fresheners and scrubbing surfaces, keeping windows open all night with the heat on, the smell was enough to gag you the next morning. It took hours for the smell to dissipate... More

Friends made a reservation through a booking company. Chuck called them back and said $20 more per night. For some reason because their were two couples he thought we should pay more. He cancelled the reservation our friend had made. So my husband called and booked a reservation with the booking company. A few hours later, Chuck sent an email... More

If all you are looking for is a large, very clean lodge room with minimal amenities (fridge, microwave) at this price point, and located about 7 miles from one of the Acadia National Park entrances, then read no further. This is your place. But if you want to be amused -- and care about particular amenities -- read on. The... More
