Perfect is the operative word here - I have stayed in several Bed and Breakfasts over the years and this was by far the best! My friend and I needed to cross Maine off of our bucket list, so we booked sight unseen a complete WEEK with Tom and Judy. We had the Androscoggin room with the beautiful river view.... More

Thanks for the kind words. We enjoyed meeting and hosting you both and are pleased that you enjoyed both your visit to Maine and stay with us. Just 'cause you are knocking sites off your "bucket list" doesn't mean you can't revisit us. More

My wife and had stayed here one night in the Androscoggin Room - very lovely views of the river, and quiet as well. Tom (his wife Judy was sick when we were there) was very helpful, without being intrusive. He served an amazing breakfast. Great location close to downtown Brunswick.

Gracious and informative (but not intrusive) hosts. Lovely, comfortable, clean room (we had the back room with a wonderful view of the river). Breakfasts (FULL breakfast, not just a bagel and instant coffee!) were absolutely delicious! Sit by the dock, in the backyard, or just simply rock on the front porch to relax or go into town for a choice... More

Thank you for your kind words. We decided early on that breakfast at our B & B should be special and strive to serve a breakfast that guests will rave about. Thanks! We enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to having you stay with us again. Tom More

We will be coming back in two years because we loved Tom and Judy that much. This Inn is ideally located to every point of interest without breaking the bank. There are three rooms to chose from and the accommodations are stellar. The breakfast alone will have you waking up and running down the stairs like a little kid in... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Black Lantern in order to attend a Bowdoin reunion at the end of May/beginning of June. The Inn is ~2 miles from the college. Although we arrived later than we anticipated (10 pm), we called ahead and Tom kept the tree lights on so the Inn was easily found along an otherwise dark street.... More

Thanks for the kind words. We enjoy meeting guests "from away" - A Maine Expression - and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and Bowdoin College Reunion. While in town you are correct that most of our neighbors houses go dark after dark so we have enough outside lights to alert our guests that they are "home". More

This was our first stay at the Black Lantern, We stayed for 6 nights, and enjoyed every moment. The Innkeepers, Judy and Tom, were extremely accommodating, going out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfasts, served at a time of our choosing, were always delicious. Very convenient to I-295, Route 1, and... More

This was our first stay at the Black Lantern. My son and I are from Santa Monica, CA and on a college tour of the New England area. We had just driven 6 1/2 hours through a blinding snowstorm from Williams College to Bowdoin, a trip that normally takes 4 1/2-5 hours. Every time I called owner, Tom Connelie, to... More

We have stayed at the Black Lantern several times and have enjoyed every stay. It is nicely located off the Interstate and a good location for a trip to Acadia NP. It is just across the river from Brunswick ME where there are shops, nice restaurant (Richard's German Restaurant) and Bowdin College.

My wife and I organised a trip to New England and especially Maine at the end of September so that we could experience the world famous foliage and lobsters! We planned the trip in such a way that we had less than 2 hours' drive between places to stay and Topsham was about 1.5 hours away from Boston which was... More

Our second trip to the Black Lantern on the way to Boston airport. This B&B's back yard is on the river where one can enjoy a glass of wine with the sun setting. The front porch of this magnificent older, carefully restored home, also has a great front porch for sitting. We were able to walk across the river to... More
