This is basically like a clean spartan motel, but on a perfect setting. The inn is right on a beautiful harbor with lobster fishermen hard at work. Picturesque. The great common area deck gives you terrific views. And you're on the main street, within walking distance of the key Stonington places. But the hotel is not luxurious or charming. Rooms... More

First the pro's: the inn hangs over the harbor on pillars, and has wonderful views of it. The town is tiny, as laid-back as you could ever desire and a wonderful place to observe the lobster-fishing activity and feel cut off from the world. Most of the rooms have a view, I believe, and all have access to a smlll... More

We stayed for two nights in the American Eagle suite and absolutely loved it. The room was huge with 2 bedrooms, a good sized bathroom, a full kitchen and eating area and a large living room with a sectional couch. Best of all we had our own private balcony over the water with chaise lounges and a table with chairs... More

My husband and I stayed here in October, right before the end of the season. The room was delightful, with a view of the harbor, so that we could see lobster fishing boats coming and going whenever we were in the room. The breakfast that came with the room was absolutely delicious. The Inn has a phenomenal baker, so that... More

Hubby and I stayed here in late October of 2011, but I am just now writing a review of this lovely Inn. I grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine and now live out of the state, (still a New England girl though!) and a Maine girl at heart. I love the Maine coast. However, having grown up in Down East... More

The Inn on the Harbor is not a 5-star hotel; what it is is a quaint, charming, clean and wonderful place to stay. You can't beat the view; the staff is a gracious and kind group of folks who go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you are looking for a place to go... More

Generally acceptable stay. Exceptional views of the harbor, so one can easily overlook some of this property shortcomings - lack of privacy for the rooms overlooking the common deck, decent continental breakfast but clearly nothing to write home about (and why would there be an expresso machine that cannot be used during breakfast hours, when it is needed most?). Biggest... More

First found this place in a Frommer's guidebook, then checked it out on the internet. Stayed in the Stephen Tabor room, which had its own deck but had an access to the main deck. Nice but found other folks coming onto our deck and looking into our room. I choose this place as a surprise to my wife and to... More

We enjoyed staying here. Our room (Stephen Tabor) had its own deck looking right over the harbor, which was constantly in motion with lobster boats and rowing and sailing boats. It was very entertaining to sit and watch the action. It was a pleasure to stay in a bit of old Maine that was still a real place, and nor... More

First let me say that we spent a very relaxing 5 nights at the Inn. We were in the Victory Chimes, first floor, water view and stepping directly out on to the shared deck. The room location couldn't have been better but be forewarned that its a bit "tired." At close to $200 per night (high season) it would have... More
