my husband and I stayed for 2 nights, whilst we visited Acadia National Park. We arrived early and Susie greeted us like family. Only having booked 2 nights and wanting to see and walk as much as possible, Susie could not have been more helpful in providing us with all that we needed and we had a glorious afternoon, following... It's been almost a month since we were at The Birches for 3 nights and I still think about this place almost every day. My hubby booked us at this B&B (wish I could take the credit for finding them!) while we visited Acadia National Park. I'm trying to think of one thing that I did not care for at... More

First trip to the US and 48 hours in, I couldn't have had a better welcome: an impromptu dinner party! As soon as we arrived, Mike and Susi were very welcoming and made us feel right at home and invited us to join them for a lobster feast. It's true they make you feel part of the family (lovely to... Wonderful B&B, with gorgeous views of the harbour and a long dock to sit and enjoy the sunrise. Spacious lawns for sitting or playing croquet, lovely flower beds and trees, and deer crossings every morning. A very peaceful quiet location. Suzy a wonderful hostess, who's family have lived there for generations, knew ever so much about the area, restaurants, hiking... More

This was a great find, and one we'll be sure to return to. Perfect setting w/ gorgeous view of Sommes Sound, on very quiet street w/ no road noise, and we are very particular about road noise. Inn keeper, Suzy, was a Jill-of-All-Trades: she was charming, warm, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about the area w/ all of her guest, put... More

Just got back from a perfect 3 night visit to the Birches where you are treated like family the moment you arrive by Susie. Beautiful setting with wonderful views of the water. Great location to enjoy Acadia National Park and the surrounding areas avoiding the more crowded and touristy Bar Harbor. Susie will help set up your days itinerary and... More

My lovely wife and I spent 3 nights at the Birches during the 2nd week of August. Susie, the owner/host couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. From providing restaurant suggestions, to having foam pillows waiting in room for us per our reservation, to providing gluten free breakfast options for my wife, Susie was spot on! Her attention to... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Birches in late June this year. It's quiet location near Southwest Harbor was an easy 10-15 minute drive to Acadia National park loop (which has fantastic road biking, not to mention amazing scenery), and Bar Harbor. Our ocean view room was clean, spacious, and tastefully yet simply decorated, without a... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Birches for four nights. Suzie and Mike went out of their way to make us feel right at home. Everything was perfect from the gourmet breakfasts, to the amazing views of the garden and waterfront from the property, and like so many other reviews stated, all the helpful suggestions and tips of... The Birches is a magical place tucked in the quite side of the island. The home is lovely, the views spectacular and the breakfast down right unbeatable. I venture to say you can't buy a better meal on the island. Susi and Mike make you feel like family. We did not want to leave! We hope to make it back... More
