This is a 200 year old inn overlooking the harbor and the town of Southwest Harbor. It's on the quieter side of the island with a small trip to town and a 20 minute drive to Bar Harbor. The suite we stayed in had a deck looking over the harbor, a bathroom and 2 funky smaller rooms filled with antiques... More

The innkeepers do all they can to make you comfortable and at peace. The Pilot House Cottage is exceptional, with skylights, a jacuzzi & a sense of spaciousness yet coziness at the same time, and the view on harbor at anytime of tide is...just beautifully panoramic. Sunrises are spectacular. Go!

This price was definitely right, and if you're fond of decor that's an accumulation of oddities from quite a long time ago, this is your place. Our room was really small so inquire about that if it matters to you. There were common rooms full of all sorts of stuff, floors that weren't level, and the place just generally had... More

Thank you for staying with us. Staying at an historic in presents its challanges. I am the 5 generation , consecutive, inn keeper at this location. The staff and family work diligently as the stewards of this inn and property to maintain its origional charm. The many artifacts relating to our local history and seamanship are in character . There... More

This Inn is all about the location which, for my wife and I, is about as good as it gets. The views are idyllic coastal Maine. It is superbly situated only steps from the water with picturesque views of Southwest Harbor to the West, Somes Sound to the North and the Cranberry Islands/Atlantic Ocean to the East. It neighbors the... More

To start with, the place looked totally different from what was shown in the internet. Pilot house is not only the good shot about the fireplace they feature online, this is the weirdest place I’ve ever stayed. It is about a fully renovated kitchen attached to an “antique” shop full of clutter. The master bedroom was very small and the... More

Our deepest regrets that we were not aware of your displeasure during your three nights stay. We assure you that customer service is of utmost importance to us and we would have corrected any issues immediately. We are very proud of the long maritime history in the area and of the Inn itself. The many antique ships and artifacts on... More

The place is quite unique, about 25 min drive from the main Acadia NP headquarters, it is an old house of a seaman family, with several large suites that can easily accommodate a family of 4-5, views of the harbor are great, the main house is very special with old memorabilia, maps and other sea related objects, breakfast is modest.... We are happy you understood and complimented us on our mariner artifacts located throughout the property. One of our goals is to preserve our heritage and culture. Five generations of innkeeping have lead to an extensive collection. Please come back and enjoy what this fine property has to offer as I am sure you missed something! We try to please... More

My husband and I have stayed two separate times at The Moorings. Most recently we stayed in Topside which is the second floor of the cottage. We absolutely loved it! The place is quaint but quite comfortable. We loved the privacy and space - having our own living/eating area and private balcony. Sitting on the balcony enjoying coffee and watching... More

We know you have to pay for the view and location - and we know that Desert Island is a premium, but we will not return due to price ad what one gets for it. Staff was very good, especially the on-site manager, but there appears to be a lack of ownership presence. The breakfast was a huge disappointment -... More

Southwest Harbor is authentic Maine with none of the busyness of Bar Harbor. Our cottage at The Moorings fit all our needs after spending one uncomfortable night in one of the Lighthouse rooms they let us switch to a nice little cottage not attached to the main house. They were very accommodating and if you want one of the lighthouse... More

Views are perfect, our two rooms had a good deck for up to 3 people, living rooms downstairs are quaint, fire in fireplace, good beds, nice management. Style is old time - the stairs do creak, it's not slick. Bring your own snacks and bottle of wine, there's no bar nearby and you'll want to sit on your deck or... More
