It was a good place to sleep the beds are so comfortable. But the railing is very dangerous if someone where to lean on it they could fall over and be seriously injured or dead. The breakfast was not good the bathrooms are small. If you stink up the bathroom the smell will stay their for a while. People are... More

Dear guest, Thank you for visiting the historic Moorings Inn. We did have a service dog staying with a guest for an extended period and I suspect it was "Emmy" you met in our lobby, we were all very fond of her. The varying bathroom sizes are certainly part of the charm of staying in an historic Inn and we... More

Thank you so much for visiting the Moorings Inn! We are glad you enjoyed our location as much as we do and hope our light continental morning offerings provided you with at least a little fuel to start your day overlooking Somes Sound. More

It was a decent place of you needed a place to stay that was cheap. The complimentary breakfast was awful. The bathrooms are small. There is window air conditioning. A lot of antique furniture and accessories in the room. A full kitchen.

Loved this Inn on the "quiet side" close to Bar Harbor. Beautiful, family owned Inn with amazing waterfront views and comfortable accommodations with friendly staff. You can't find a better place to stay, close to Acadia Park, close to downtown Bar Harbor, but away from all the busy tourist area, you feel like you are staying with family. We will... More

Our 1st day/night here in a three night stay. My 1st impression is a good one as I love the water and the place is right on it..literally. It has an older, family feel to it and when you walk in you have the feeling like you're staying at somebodys house. Nice sitting room that overlooks the ocean attached to... More

A sweet, local family-owned place, The Moorings in Southwest Harbor is a delight for my family & friends for a long, long time. It is an absolutely a comfortable and stress-free environment with some quirks maybe but with endearing charm. The decorum features old Maine, rustic antiques and individuality of lodging. The family which owns and run The Moorings are... More

We were pleased we stayed in Southwest Harbor instead of Bar Harbor, even though we visited in October. We loved the peace and quiet. We didn't mind the 25 minute drive over to Bar Harbor, or about 20 minutes to one of the Acadia Park entrances. The Moorings is an historic property, so you get that mixture of charm and... More

The Inn is very beautiful, certainly what we wanted and expected. Our room was comfortable and the view of the water and dock that our window faced was beautiful. The location is a little off the beaten path, but it is located on the "Quiet side" of the island and we wanted that feel and got it. A short drive... More

Glad you enjoyed your stay. The good news is all rooms but 3 have water views and are ocean front! The cottages all have ocean views some with screened in porches. Nightly bob fires attract alot of attention and are great to warm up by on a damp and chilly night unless you a fireplace in your room which several... More

This is a wonderful place. We arrived around midnight and the hotel looked like it was shut down for the night. But our room was lit up and I could see the keys on the bed through the sliding glass doors. (It doesn't work this way in the big city, folks.) It was a very nice room with a king... More

We are not a chain hotel, we appreciate that we are not a chain hotel. We take pride in being unique, personable, and very Maine. A recent guest complimented us as being a “human place”. That statement resonated with me. Returning guests love to recall conversations with Les, the patriarch of the family. Les was known for his storytelling of... More

Late check ins are part of coming to an island in Maine. Yes, we will leave the light on for you! Waking up to that historic sharp beauty. The lighthouse wing suites have both a sunrise and sunset deck. It would be our pleasure for you to join us again! More
