We were pleased we stayed in Southwest Harbor instead of Bar Harbor, even though we visited in October. We loved the peace and quiet. We didn't mind the 25 minute drive over to Bar Harbor, or about 20 minutes to one of the Acadia Park entrances. The Moorings is an historic property, so you get that mixture of charm and... More

The Inn is very beautiful, certainly what we wanted and expected. Our room was comfortable and the view of the water and dock that our window faced was beautiful. The location is a little off the beaten path, but it is located on the "Quiet side" of the island and we wanted that feel and got it. A short drive... More

This is a wonderful place. We arrived around midnight and the hotel looked like it was shut down for the night. But our room was lit up and I could see the keys on the bed through the sliding glass doors. (It doesn't work this way in the big city, folks.) It was a very nice room with a king... More

We are not a chain hotel, we appreciate that we are not a chain hotel. We take pride in being unique, personable, and very Maine. A recent guest complimented us as being a “human place”. That statement resonated with me. Returning guests love to recall conversations with Les, the patriarch of the family. Les was known for his storytelling of... More

Late check ins are part of coming to an island in Maine. Yes, we will leave the light on for you! Waking up to that historic sharp beauty. The lighthouse wing suites have both a sunrise and sunset deck. It would be our pleasure for you to join us again! More

My wife love the Bar Harbor area. It’s where we honeymooned roughly 10 years ago. We hadn’t been back and after being turned off by the crowds on Cape Cod last summer, we decided to return to Acadia. At the suggestion of a friend, we checked out the Moorings Inn and we’re SO GLAD we did. We absolutely loved the... More

We are so happy to be here for a reminiscence of your honeymoon. Southwest Harbor is often more tranquil than what can be busy Bar Harbor. We love when guests embrace spending more time on the property, as you can see the entire mountain range of Acadia often right from your bedroom. Yes, we have a variety of accommodations. We... Majestic Waterfront View of the Bay/Inlet Harbor , with Lobster boats coming and going from the ocean , also Hinckley Sailboats & Hinckley Picnic power boats anchored on mooring balls in Southwest Harbor behind the Moorings Inn, it a beautiful site to see these fine vessels with the sunrise and sunset in the back ground . The Mooring Inn is... More

We are so happy we are a fit for your Acadian visits. The Hinckley family formerly owned this inn. They turned what was their summer house into an inn during the Great Depression. In fact the matriarch of the Hinckley family named the inn, the Moorings Inn, as there were always boats moored out front. More

We stayed here after a day at Acadia National Park. We arrived at night and left the next morning, which we really regretted, because the most amazing thing about this inn is its amazing ocean view. We booked two rooms: my husband and I had the Theoline room, and my in-laws were upstairs in the Silver Spray suite. Even though... More

Thank you for relaxing into the magic of the Moorings. A generationally local family owned seaside inn we most certainly are. I have made a note about the water pressure for the plumbers. If we can enhance the pressure we will. Stargazing at night is a favorite evening activity here. Best to you and your family. More

We stayed for two nights in the dauntless suite. Beside it needs a bit of renovation (wallpaper falls down from the wall) it was not as clean as it could have been. The housekeeping left the unclean dishes in the room and as we moved in there was stuff from other guests still in the fridge when we arrived. The... More

Thank you for coming to stay and enjoying the ocean view suite. The owner has seen this review as well. We continuously do renovations to preserve this historical property. Our apologies for the inconveniences you experienced. I have talked to housekeeping to make sure that nothing is being overlooked and to provide a more consistent pleasant customer service. We enjoyed our stay, got great restaurant advice (Thurston's Lobster rolls are amazing), and watched the sunrise and sunset from our balcony. Breakfast was fresh and fine. Between a B&B and Inn...privacy and helpful staff, but larger.

The area for being quaint has a variety of eateries. Being on the quietside there are some beautiful on the water dining locations. As the inn does not have a communal dining room we do not do the B&B breakfast. However, we put out a generous continental breakfast to keep our guests happy, and provide the space for dreaming up... Amazing location, water views! The rooms are just okay...We stayed in the Monarch, where there was a bed, chair, closet and a bathroom. The bathroom is tiny, but for a night or two will be okay. The breakfast consisted of a very decent coffee, muffins, cheese, salami, mini bagels and watermelon. It held us over until lunchtime, where we stuffed... More

Yes, we have a variety of accommodations. Monarch is a favorite, but is one of our more practical options. One that I find to give you peace and quite at a great price, while still having the big ocean view just a door away. We are very pleased you also enjoyed the breakfast. Thank you for coming to stay. We... More
