return here each year...never a disappointment. Beautiful harbor view with "sleeping ships" shaking off the winter. Rooms bright, clean; staff ending a long winter with opening and cleaning and news of the town over the "winta". Coffee, choice of rooms, all up to date and as wll remembered. Life as it should be.

We have been staying at the Harbor View for many years over the Columbus Day weekend. The rooms are very clean although some are a bit dated. Continental breakfast is included with a selection of bagels, English muffins, cereal juice and coffee. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We have been going to the Harbor View for 32 years and have usually stayed in Cabin 16, (our favorite). This year, Cabin 16 was under repair, so the staff contacted us before we got there to let us know we would be in Cabin 19. This cabin has 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, living room, dining area and a wrap-around... More

After several searches for the perfect place to stay while in Maine, I think we found it. This Motel is on the quiet side of the Mount Desert Island. We loved it here. The staff, all of them, were the friendliest people. We could walk to town, it was just a couple blocks down the street. The view from our... More

Our first trip to Maine. We knew from the reviews and pics that we were going rustic, and that was also what we payed for. It was nicer than we expected. Cottage 19 was larger than it appears in the web shots. The beds were very comfy and the rooms very clean. The people in the office were very nice... More

Accommodations were good, location fabulous, town of SW nice/quaint, BUT by far the best part was the "awesome" staff ~~ welcoming, friendly, pleasant, helpful, It was nice to be in a quiet village town, yet within a few miles from the best water vistas I have ever seen hiking:+) Acadia NP is a "must visit" for everyone !!!

I was visiting the area in order to hike in Acadia. Southwest Harbor is a bit of a drive to the western side of Acadia where most of the trails are. However, this is a much quieter, less busy area than Bar Harbor. There are less traveled trails on the SW side for days when the main sections of Acadia... More

I was late in booking but really wanted to stay in Southwest Harbor at least one night. This place is a little hidden find. Older and cozy, clean with good beds. Great price. Ate the very plentiful continental breakfast on their deck and visited with people who come back every year. The location is great--on the bay, easy walk to... More

Hello, Thank you for your review of the Harbor View Motel and Cottages. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay at the motel, along with your time in beautiful Southwest Harbor. Your write-up was positive and yet, you only gave 3 stars out of 5. Is there anything we could have done to warrant a better numerical review? We would... More

We checked out of Seawall Campground and wanted to stay on the quiet side of the island for one more day. Almost all of Southwest Harbor was booked but Harbor View had one room for one night and didn't take advantage and upcharge. Rate was very reasonable. We stayed in Room 8. Walls were thin and furnishings were outdated but... More
