$235 for room in mid August. Outstanding views of harbor. Great porch overlooking croquet courts, moored boats. row boats avail for kids Ocean Breezes. Very quiet rooms, except for plumbing. Close to small village.. Very good breakfasts, included. Rooms are old, no upgrades. There was a problem with the plumbing--unusual loud pipe noises by others using showers. Everything passed over... I was disappointed with my stay at the Claremont. If you are looking for a century type hotel you may enjoy the Claremont. It is really more of a bed & breakfast than a hotel. The rooms are teeny tiny and the furniture & fixtures are dated. Maybe they are striving for classic but I just found it dated &... More

Our first evening was a planned to enjoy the dining facilities. Unfortunately, we waited an extensive time to order, then get our dinners. The dinners arrived undercooked and unedible. The floor manager tried to accommodate us, but unfortunately her aggressive approach left us stunned. She was unapologetic and unwilling to say the customer is always right! Other instances throughout our... More

We stayed here for a night to round out a camping trip on Mt Desert. The hotel is very charming, and perfectly located on the sound. We had a room on the third floor with a view of the water, which was really nice. Clean, bright, comfy bed. We particularly enjoyed aperitif in the boat house and the breakfast in... More

We've been visiting Mount Desert Island for more than 15 years and visiting the Claremont is always a highlight. We've never spent the night, but enjoy a fine meal every year in the dining room, lectures and many games of croquet with our children and friends. But the highlight are our visits to the Boathouse for a drink and snacks.... More

The hotel is an ancient masterpiece. A trip back in time. But the accommodations are up to date. Beautiful rooms, clean bathrooms, elevator, strong WiFi. The setting is great. Right by a quiet bay. And the included breakfast, though not luxurious is still very good. A buffet as well as a free, fresh dish to order.

The Claremont is a gorgeous historic hotel, spectacularly sited at the mouth of Somes Sound and boasting an inviting wrap around porch, lush grounds and pretty rooms filled with antiques. The hotel has a library, games and world class croquet courts available to guests. It is a treasure, and my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay over July 4th... More

This beautiful hotel is located in Southwest Harbor. It sits on an imposing location overlooking the harbor. The pubic rooms are delightful warm and inviting. The staff is friendly and very helpful. A beautiful, old lodge. Great views off the porch or our room windows of the harbor. Restuarant was excellent. Perfect place to unwind, enjoy the view and visit Acadia National Park. Or drive for a day in Bar a Harbor. Also popular to ocean kayak.
