We stayed on December 13 because we had no power or heat. We chose Portland to combine some holiday shopping with a need to stay warm. We orginally tried the Portland By the Bay Holiday Inn. I checked in to this hotel at 8 pm after an exhausting day of travel. The room was fine on first glance. We have stayed at this hotel before twice and find it very comfortable and clean. It is the only place we now consider staying in Portland. The location is excellent and it is easy to get to for shopping or to the airport. The bathroom is dark as some have said, but the vanity is out in the bedroom area... more

The staff and management at this hotel seem to bend over backwards to be friendly and helpful, but not even their hospitality can compensate for the physical drawbacks of the rooms themselves.
