This inn has a great location. The history of the house is interesting and the owners have worked hard to make the floor plan of the bedrooms and baths work. We had a small room as we got the last booking for the date we wanted. The food is wonderful and the prices are reasonable. We were seated for dinner... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. This has been a busy summer as noted in your comments. It is generous of you to appreciate what we are doing even though you had a small room and dinner was not immediately in front of you. Hopefully, you enjoyed the complimentary wine, fruit and cheese plate... More

What a fabulous time. The room was spacious and the bed totally comfortable with fantastic views of the ocean!. The restaurant was a five star dinning experience and the breakfast was equally delicious. Mike and Brenda are very gracious hosts and offer a "home away from home" atmosphere. We really enjoyed the outside veranda and Gaiter the bar tender. We... More

I was pleasantly surprised by our stay here. The room was nicely decorated (the bath was a little small). We arrived right at wine and cheese hour and enjoyed sitting in the nicely appointed room and we visited with another couple. I had difficulty finding a review of the attached restaurant prior to arriving, but after looking at the menu... More

This Bed and Breakfast was a little quirky but actually very nice. It is a very large Victorian. It has a restaurant. We arrived and were shown to our room. The room was rather small but had a big bathroom. They have a wine and cheese reception in the early evening which was rather nice. We had dinner at the... More

The room was not very clean, the bath room was in a closet, that being in an old house is very small the mirror had spots of tooth paste from a previous guest the shower had hair on the wall, it was so small you had to tuck your knees under the sink to sit on the toilet and I'm... More

In many ways, I'm horrified at your comments. Yes, this is an old sea captain's home (built in 1874) and some of the baths are very small, but we wanted each room to have a private bath. Therefore, the room you were in had a bath with shower in a former closet. However, we take pride in our housekeeping and... More

We had a great stay in this wonderful historic inn. The owners have obviously put a lot of love and care into the renovation and furnishing of the inn. The food in the restaurant was great, and the breakfast was amazing. Brenda and Mike were gracious hosts and great conversation sharing travel stories. We hope to come back!

We hope you come back too! Thanks for appreciating the work we've put into the renovation, restoration of this wonderful old sea captain's home. There is not doubt in our minds that this type structure needs to be part of our national heritage; too many of them are no longer with us or have been changed too much to say... More

Sat on the ocean view deck on a sunny afternoon. Warmly greeted by, Joe, the left handed waiter. Fantastic service. Declicious tapas, duck tacos and crab cakes. YUM!!! Margaritas were very well made. Comfortable seating on deck, gas fueled fireplaces for chilly Maine nights.

My boyfriend and I had to change our plans at the last minute and were able to get a room at the Captain AV Nickels Inn in Searsport, Maine. It is a very old sea captain's home right on the Penobscott Bay. It is a step back in time. Both the interior and exterior are lin need of some cosmetic... More

Thank you so much for such beautiful comments. It is indeed a joy to have guests like you both staying with us. I also want to report that we have done more "sprucing up" this year and the Captain's home looks better than it has in years! Mike and I are doing well and working to take this lovely place... I booked the Captain A.V. Nickels on a whim. Something drew me to the tripadvisor listing. It was a wise decision. The Hotel itself is very nice, the staff was solid, and the food was fantastic. I particularly recommend that visitors enjoy the breakfast which was a delight. We had dinner at the hotel every night but one, and the... More

I saw this B&B and immediately booked it for my fiance's birthday. We are from southern Maine but were excited to get a change of scenery in this beautiful time of year (autumn).
