What a treat! I can not imagine a better Innkeeper than Patricia. What a dear and fabulous cook! Just a delightful place to stay. I wish we had scheduled more than 2 nights in this cute little town. SO much history, so much to see and do and with Patricia's helpful recommendations our trip was outstanding. The Lindsey House is... More

The Captain LIndsey House is a gem of a place!! It is everything its web site claims it is and has and much, much more. While the outside is quite plain looking, when you step inside, you are immediately transported to another time, another era, and a certain social class. Soft music in the background, deep green and bordeaux painted... More

The exterior of the Inn was quaint in its styling and color. The interior of the entire Inn was of a very comfortable and welcoming nature. In the bedroom, the mattresses and linens were of excellent choice. Bathroom had everything one could want. Storage space was unbelievable compared to some we have stayed in. My sister and I could not... More

We have actually stayed at the Lindsey House about a dozen times, both while looking for a new home and then when the house was in the process of renovation. From the moment we arrived on that first January trip up to Rockland, Ken and Ellen Barnes and the incomparable Patricia were there to greet us, make us feel at... More

We visited just after Christmas and had a wonderful time. The Inn is charming and comfortable. Our room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The Inn is well-located for shopping and eatting out. Patricia was an absolute delight!

If you want to be close to the many activities in the Rockland/Rockport area, this is the place to stay. Rooms were very comfortable, breakfasts were delicious and the hospitality was all that one could ask for. Easy stroll to interesting shops, restaurants and the Farnsworth Museum. We will definitely return.

Owners and manager are very friendly, great cooks and know the area well. Be ready to walk up stairs if on upper floors.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It's clean and well-maintained with good-size rooms, great breakfasts (and often a bonus drink and/or cake in the evening), just far enough from the main street to miss most of the noise (except on Solstice Day -the groups were really loud!) It has a good little lounge and outdoor patio as well, plenty of nearby... More

Just a few short steps from Rockland's Main Street Captain Lindsey House is one of four Historic Inns grouped in Rockland. The house dates back to 1837 and later became Rockland's first Inn. Since the 1990s Captain Ken Barnes and his wife, Ellen, have been proprietors. Today the Inn offers guests a charming homelike experience with spacious bedrooms and living... More

I cannot add anything to the positive reviews this Inn has received; they are all well-deserved. Something different, however, is that this was our first B&B experience. We were not sure if we would enjoy the "closeness" compared to a hotel, but, after a day we realized that this was the best part of the stay. Also, as "Captain" Ken... More
