Happily surprised. Beautiful old fashion architecture but with modern amenities. Clean, wonderful service that was more than I ever expected. I loved the breakfast- they had many great options. The staff was very knowledgeable of the area and gave great recommendations of things to do in the area. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area. I... More

The new owner of the Captain Lindsey House has pulled out the stops in redecorating while keeping the character of the Inn. Furniture in all rooms have been changed with other decorations added. Patricia is still the innkeeper and does a fabulous job. The new colors are keeping with the colonial nature of the house, paintings and other artwork are... More

Thank you so much for your review. We have tried very hard to keep the great flavor of Captain Lindsey House while giving it a fresh, new nautical feel. The "locals" opinion is very important to us and for those who consider CLH a home away from home, we want to continue that wonderful tradition. More

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the inn tremendously. It is clean, friendly, comfortable, and the food was excellent.. There was a nice parlor, and daily papers were available, as well as other magazines. There were a few light snacks, and you could always make yourself a nice cup of tea-very important as the weather was cold and raw.... More

Another couple and we reserved two months ago. We were not given one of the rooms we requested; moreover, neither room we stayed in looked even remotely like the photographs of those rooms on the website. Both rooms were dreary, dark, weirdly furnished. The two "easy" chairs in our room were SO deep and huge that we could not sit... More

We are so sorry that your stay at the inn obviously occurred as the rooms were being redesigned with a new nautical feel. We are very happy that you enjoyed the comfy new king beds and the sumptuous bed linens and towels - other guests have said the same. We appreciate our guests feedback and have taken yours into account. More

The Captain Lindsey remains excellent. The Inn changed hands in February. The new owners are committed to keeping the Inn at the forefront of historic captain's houses in the Mid-Coast area. Having discussed their plans with them, I am happy to find their interest in keeping the Inn as it has been and will be making some changes to the... More

My husband and I stayed at the Captain Lindsey House last weekend. Neither one of us had stayed at an inn before and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was very nice with a king size bed. There was ice available in the lobby area as well as snacks and beverages. The breakfast was very good as well. Although the... More

this is a very homely, clean inn. i liked the nice living room with snack provided (nuts and hershey kisses, and a fridge where free SODA was available. not really a fan of soda, i was happy to find at least, that there was a diet offered). those are the positives. the negatives during my stay included a VERY uncomfortable... As a location for a wedding by The Captain, followed by a two night stay, we found the Inn to be full of quintessential New England charm. The Captain and his wife Captain Ellen served as friendly hosts and made sure all of our needs were met. The room and bathroom were large. All was very clean and well kept.... More

The Maine Elks Association had the honor of hosting the National President of the Elks of America and his wife in the Mid-Coast area. They were from Oklahoma. We secured 6 of the 9 rooms at the House for 4 days and couldn't have been happier. The charm and comfort of the House met all of our expectations, and Patrica... More

Having read a number of positive reviews of the Captain Lindsey House, I booked a one-night stay as part of a recent weekend trip to Maine. I have to say that I was disappointed. One might say that the place had a sort of shabby charm and our room was clean but the on-line descriptions did not match up to... More

This review makes us very sad as we end such a successful season here at The Captain Lindsey House, where so, so many people have told us how much they love the "charm" of our old sea Captain's home; and where our staff has worked tirelessly to make sure our guests have a relaxing, enjoyable stay. We know that everyone... More
