It was the most incredible pleasure to spend an early Fall weekend back at Albee's with my adult daughter, Sarah. My personal connection began 50 years ago when my family found our way there on a summer vacation. At that time Elwin and Bea Albee were there, welcoming all to their lovely cottages perched on the harbor's edge. Though it's... More

My husband and I stayed at Albee's for the second time this summer. And as it turns out (because Rich hangs on to all his records:). This is where I stayed with my parents when I was a little girl. You just can't get more of a real Maine experience than you do at Albee's. The cottages are very 'campy',... More

Our family was back again at Albees cottages. Couldn't get/find my other Albee review to come up so started another one. Again, a retro, restored with a taste of "elegance," old time Maine cottage experience right on the bay. It is a relaxing travel back in time to the old days. Prospect Harbor is located near Acadia National Park so... More

This little enclave of cottages is the gem in the Schoodic Peninsula area of Maine. Each cabin has a kitchen with utensils, clean linen, and a knock out view (30 feet away) of the water. Eagles and Osprey fish in front of your porch. The place is deceivingly shabby but that exterior hides fastidiously well kept cottages.

I stayed at Albee's with a couple of friends and we had a great time. The cottage we stayed in was certainly not modern but it had a rustic charm. Best of all, it was maybe 10 feet from the water. It included a porch looking out over the harbor and a big window in the sunny kitchen. In the... More

Having vacationed the past 4 years just outside downtown Bar Harbor, our stay at Albee's showed us how relaxing and enjoyable it could be to stay out of the hustle and bustle of MDI. Our cottage offered enough of a kitchen to cook simple meals when we wanted to, with a double burner, fridge and toaster oven. The cabin was... More

Thank you, Richard! My husband, puppy, and I had the most relaxing week in our cottage by the sea. We were woken in the morning by the sound of gulls and geese and lulled to sleep by the sound of the water. The location was perfect for us - close enough to trails and bike rides and nearby towns, but... More

Albee's is a wonderful, quaint gem of a place. My daughter and I were "seeing Maine" from Bar Harbor to Lubec. I found Albee's by accident when researching our trip. From the moment I spoke to Richard on the phone, to the emails he sent, I knew we were in for a delightful time. It's a rustic, peaceful, quaint, almost... More

Yes, Albee's is rustic, and Albee's is charming. And Albee's is a step back in time to a more quiet, peaceful, and simple way of life. For over thirty years the family has been renting up to six of the cabins because everyone likes it so much. It's a different kind of place. The kids enjoy playing, reading, painting, playing... Albee's is a collection of cabins on a small, well-kept property just steps from the water. I stayed in the smallest cabin, which had a lot of character. Like the previous reviewer said, Albee's is rustic; if you are particular, this may not be the place for you. The cabin could've used a good, deep cleaning but the beds, toilet,... More
