This was a great hotel to stay at, once we found it. Conveniently located. It's not the hotel's fault the city or state put in some horrible rotaries and signage. Thought I was just fine on Congress Street until it became a one way. I was less than 1/2 mile from the hotel and it took me 20 minutes to... More

We were just here for a night after a conference in Portland. The location puts it close enough to downtown Portland that it's a very quick drive/bus/cab to get there, but not so close that you're stuck in traffic and can't park. The iced tea/cookies/water on the way in were a nice touch after a very long drive to get... More

Nice big room with HUGE windows! Nice flat screen, mini fridge, microwave, desk and comfortable overstuffed chair and ottoman. Lots of things to like about this Hotel. Slow wifi, sometimes very slow. Too bad. Hotel is going through a major rehab, check before you book. I was on 6th floor, rehab was ongoing on 5th floor and quite disturbing. I... More

We wanted to stay in between downtown and the mall. This is a perfect location if that is what you are looking for, We stayed here before when it was the Doubletree and it was a lot nicer then. It is still a very solid hotel, but showing some signs of age. The hotel does have a slight odor about... More

I was going to Portland for a course at UNE and my husband tagged along. Our room was one of the updated rooms apparently. It had a great fridge, comfy king sized bed, storage room for the bike. The toilet was a bit slow to flush and the elevator was SLOW, but otherwise the staff was super nice and helpful... More

Staff friendly and helpful. Room 111 on first floor clean and pleasant, but smelled like a gym. Either no fan in bathroom,or not working. We've eaten better breakfasts for free in cheaper hotels - this breakfast costs $10 and is terrible.

We booked a room here last minute over Memorial Day weekend. It is extremely reasonable, clean and the staff is friendly. It was only a couple minutes to downtown Portland as well. The rooms are a little outdated, but we didn't find any major issues and did see they were remodeling the 2nd floor. Would definitely stay here again on... More

We loved our two-night stay at the Clarion this past week. We found the place on hotels.com, the rate couldn't be beat! When we checked in the two women working the front desk got us in early, gave us a map of Portland and pointed out some great places that we ended up loving! They rooms were spacious and very... The hotel was fine. Nothing special, nothing bad. Did have an older feel to it, so it could do with an upgrade. Very convenient if you have a car. Two minor issues I somehow overlooked; shuttle stopped running at about 11 pm, so we had to get a taxi when our flight was delayed, and breakfast is not included. That... More

Stayed one night and it was perfectly adequate. The room was clean although had a musty smell and side drape was drooping due to broken grommet. No breakfast included; however, there was a good buffet for $10 each (we decided to eat elsewhere). I had terrible problems with the internet connection and called front desk around 7pm. The front desk... More
